Brutal. I put down a deposit in July 2018 for an early FJ40 full tub that was a "custom" build at the time since they weren't making pre '74 tubs at the time. Been waiting 22 months for a tub on a frame off resto.
Anyone else that ordered... what are you doing now? Waiting to see if they...
@Jose yanguas Sorry for the delay, I'm busier than I expected and I'm not going to get around to messing with the steering box for a little while, so I'm going to reverse course and just sell the frame bits at this time. I can package them together for $80 shipped continental US.
We could talk...
@Jose yanguas, going to give priority to whoever will buy all frame pieces as a set. There is another person interested in all the frame pieces, but you replied earlier so if you want them all, I would sell them all to you.
I do still have the manual steering box. However, the steering box is...
Hello, anyone have the union that goes into the head and that the temp sender threads into? I am looking for the one that came in early FJ40 - there was a change in 9/1972. Don't need the temp sender itself, Mr. Toyoda still has that.
It's #15 in this picture: Land Cruiser Gasoline Freeze...
Thanks to everyone that responded! I got a pretty good number of responses within a couple days, so I'm moving forward with production as follows...
GASKET REPLACEMENTS
Detailed drawings of the gaskets will be made (2-3 weeks), and then parts can be produced and shipped (about 5 weeks). So I...
@ucmlamb , according to my research, the glass sizes didn't change during the life of the FJ40, so 58-84 glass should all be the same. Since the gasket is molded to fit the glass, I imagine the gaskets are also all the same. If I move forward with ordering, I may ask you to test and confirm fit...
Please excuse the cross-posting, but I was wondering if anyone would be interested in new 40 Series gauge cluster glass and the molded gasket that it fits in and secures the glass to the cluster cover. When I broke my cluster down to restore it, my gaskets were falling apart and the glass was...
Hi all, I took apart my gauge cluster to restore - I'm planning to go the whole 9 yards with cleaning everything to bare metal, re-plating the housing with yellow cad, and painting or powder coating.
When I was taking mine apart, I noticed the gaskets that hold my gauge cluster glass in place...
Hi all,
I am restoring my cluster housing and the glass gaskets are in rough shape. Some of the glass is a little chipped as well and I imagine people might be selling them together, so those would be nice too.
Anybody have these? Here's a picture of what I'm talking about:
Interested in the cowl vent and vent assembly. I need to go out to my remote garage and check out a couple of things, can I let you know tomorrow by noon? Would have PM'd this but silver membership is in process of being renewed so no inbox space
Yes sir indeed, just Google that part number and make sure it fits.
@Jdc1 that's good to know. Guess I'll have to try to reuse as much as I can and find a great powder coat match
Thanks all for the feedback. Here are a couple pictures of the rear view mirror. It looks about right based on pictures of original pewter I've seen and dirty/rusty/scratched up parts off my rig, I just wasn't exactly sure.
Seems like others have had good matching parts. I guess I will use...
I bought a new OEM rear view mirror (87810-60050) for my 72 FJ40. It came gray but it's the first new part I've seen so I can't tell if it is the original pewter color... If I got this straight from Mr. Toyota, can I assume this is the same pewter color originally used or has there been a...
Assuming your rule of thumb is for TPD?
I've only ordered stuff like hardware, gaskets, dist cap, some other oddball stuff from TPD. Fit into a flat rate USPS box, all parts either in Toyota packaging or in plastic bags with handwritten part numbers.
No problem getting the parts, just hope...
Thanks for the response @Downey. I was thinking filler neck in the stock location that fills the stock gas tank, but instead of plug at the bottom, have an elbow connected to say 3/4" fuel line running to the filler hole of the aux tank back by rear axle. No second fuel filling neck through tub...
