Gentlemen,
Is there an existing work around / McGiver solution for the1978 or equivalent driver's side front door GLASS window regulator.
This is the metal part that the bottom part if the glass window sits in, along with rubber channel, and is as long as the bottom part of the window and...
Gentlemen,
I recently lost my driver's front window regulator on the 1979 Big Sexy. It was tender at best when I did the restore 8 years ago.
I've only got a couple of 'might have' thus far so if anyone has one they can let go of please let me know.
Question: what years are compatible?
Gentlemen,
I am in need of a 1978 or equivalent driver's side front door GLASS window regulator. This is the part that the bottom part if the glass window sits in and is as long as the bottom part of the window. It attaches to the crank mechanism (mine is good) is made out of aluminum but the...
Gentlemen,
Roughly 8 years ago, (March of 2013) I asked the question "how many FJ55s are still on the road (United States) - registered and drivable..."
Some replies indicated 1000+ while others felt like 300 was more accurate.
I have had the good fortune of living and working all over the...
Gentlemen
I want to make you aware that there appears to be an increase in scams in the used car part market. I recently lost a rather small amount of money in a 280z parts transaction and it is my understanding, per the Z Car Forum that these scams are happening across several other...
Not sure if we have a thread dedicated to our best buds but I'm going to throw one out there and see what sticks... Please add pics of your four legged buds in or around your FJ55.
I can't imagine being without a dog or two hanging out with us at the house - they have brought so much love and...
My wife bought this the other day for me and it absolutely made my day as I've been looking for the right compass that had the "right fit" my piggy for several years now - a whopping 25 Cents. I did have to rewire the inside light inside and clean it up some but it is heavy duty. My dog...
Well, Big Sexy has successfully made the cross country trip (via flat bed transport) from Seattle to our new home in North Carolina - looks even sexier in NC than in the Pacific North West….
In yet another life event, my oldest son (16) is now driving my primary ride (Tacoma) to / from school...
The locking hubs should be considered spares as one the Asco hubs is broken. The Warn appears complete but I cannot vouch for it's true condition. $10.00 per pair plus shipping.
Heater / Vent hoses are mostly intact. Given their age, I'd score them a 6-7 out of 10 for condition. $10.00 plus...
Gentleman,
As I make ready for the cross country move, I'll be offering up some of my parts stash.
First up are pre ‘76 front coarse spine axles and related parts. All axle parts are in excellent condition and most have been cleaned and in where applicable, painted.
I'm not looking to make...
I took my youngest son out rabbit hunting recently and decided to take the FJ55 for the 1.5 hr ride to our favorite rabbit hole. We arrived, as usual, before sunrise excited about the prospects of harvesting some cottontail rabbits. I dropped the tailgate on the pig to grab our gear and had...
Gentleman,
Anyone have the Warn 8274 mounted on their rig?
I've got an opportunity to purchase one with the Warn mount at a reasonable price but was concerned about mounting it without major modifications to my stock front bumper.
Pics are always the best description.
Many thanks,
Jeff
All is going extremely well with my 95% completed 79 FJ55 - just fiddling with some rather minor things that really don't matter much but keep me in the garage and out of trouble.
Dome light recently went inop. Thought it was the light as upon inspection it was quite rusty - all cleaned up now...
I searched but did not find any results...
Any member have a driver's side unity light (police search light) mounted on their rig?
If so, pics please...
The spring in mine apparently are worn enough to the point of not working.
These are the ones on either side of the rear seat attached with 3 Phillips screws.
I'll need both sides...
I can get them very reasonable but it's a 1.5 hr drive one way so I'll see what happens here first.
Thanks
Gentlemen,
Making great progress with the '79. My '79 was the was by far the least rusty of the five FJ55s I looked at buying in the Northwest. I confess that I don't post much in the way of my progress and such, but I can tell you that painting is a real chore - an expensive chore... I'm...
Gentlemen,
Before I set out to the local Pick-N-Pull, I thought I'd check in to see if any of you have found a suitable radiator shroud that fits reasonably well with a stock pig radiator - 1979.
I have found a universal shroud on-line, but I'm not liking the looks of it all that much - may...
Gentlemen,
I just completed the 3rd member swap (3:73 to 4:11) on the front on my '79 piggy and now moving to swapping out the rear.
During this work, I noted that the 3rd member appears the same as front vs rear - makes sense from a production standpoint...
I have a pre '76 coarse / 6 spine...
Gentlemen,
I am 90% completed on swapping out the 3:73 3rd member for the 4:11 on the front axle when I broke the ASCO/Asian locking hub (over-tightened). The donor axle was wearing the Warn locking hubs but they appear to be a no-go as they are longer...
If any of you gentlemen have a spare...
