I know tube benders and pipe benders are different. However, is a tube bender the same thing as a "mandrel bender?"
I have a small project that needs some 2" intercooler tubing. I can buy pre-bent aluminum mandrel bends but they only have 6" of straight. I need more like 16" of straight...
What's the average lifespan of a factory 22RE fuel pump? I will be dropping the tank on my '93 this weekend to replace the brake lines. I was wondering if I should replace the fuel pump while the tank is out. The truck has about 120k miles.
Background: my timing chain broke last year for the second time (120,000 miles on truck). So, I replaced the head and timing cover. After I completed the job, I noticed a slight coolant leak at the intake manifold / head area. I ignored it for a few months. This week, I decided to pull the...
The timing chain on my 22RE broke a couple weeks ago. After inspecting with the valve cover off, I decided the inside of the valve cover looked good, and didn't need to be replaced. However, today I pulled the cover and found the bottom lip around the crank gear was broken-off. Should I put...
I bought a Graco 390 because every inch of my house needs to be painted, inside and outside.
Last week, I sprayed the dining room with latex. It was the first time I used the sprayer. I flushed/cleaned it for about an hour after using it. This week, it doesn't work. When I turn it on, and...
My pickup is a stock '93 with a 22RE and A340F automatic. About 118,000 miles on the odometer. It seems like it's not shifting out of top gear after coming to a stop. The traffic light turns green, and the truck takes FOREVER to get up to speed. It manually shifts fine. No CEL. When I...
Is it worth the trouble to remove this broken stud? Two other studs broke, and I got them out with vise-grips and cursing, but this one is really rusted into place. I can't get a drill in there because the gas tank is in the way. I could weld a nut on the end, but once again, the gas tank is...
I pulled a perfectly fine 20R out of my Celica and swapped-in a 22RTE. Everything is done except the fuel line. I'm totally ignorant about fittings. I need to adapt the stock "bubble" flared hard line to the 22RTE fuel filter. What is the safest way to do this? Cut-off the "bubble" and...
I just went through my first tank of gas in the '93 pickup. The odometer said 208 miles on 14 gallons of gas. The truck has 31" tires, so I assume the true miles are a little more. I'm still not impressed - that's about 15 mpg. My V8 4Runner gets better mileage.
Does this sound like...
What is this part called? It holds the dust shield on and has a rubber lip. My rubber lip has completely rusted-off and the guy at the autoparts store doesn't understand what I'm talking about. Usually, he's good at this kinda stuff.
Edit: it's from my '93 pickup.
My recently-acquired '93 pickup seems to be idling kinda high. I was gonna check the speed with my tachometer, but can't find a tach wire on the igniter. I assume I need to use one of the wires in the diagnostic box, but which one? It's a 22RE.
Thanks.
I drove this home from Chicago, this weekend. Base model '93. 117,000 miles. 22RE, automatic transmission ( :bang: ) rust on the tailgate only. Frame & suspension are a little rough. Big dent on the passenger door.
Note the garage photo, with a disassembled Celica, and an FJ40 blocked-in...
Kinda dumb question, but what's the best way to test a 12V relay? With a meter on the switched side, do I just wire-up the coil side to a car battery? Do I need a load on it? Am I gonna fry it?
I would normally just try things like this, but Toyota doesn't make this relay anymore. :frown:
I'm swapping an '86 22RTE into my '76 Celica with a 20R.
The Celica ignition switch harness is the old 4-wire type with ST, IG, ACC, and AM wires. The 22RTE harness has seven wires: ST1, IG1, IG2, ACC, AM1, AM2, ST2 (ST2 is not used, though). I'm planning to use a bunch of SPST relays to...
I have a real nasty oil pan, bellhousing, and transmission housing that I want to clean. Is there anywhere I could take these to be cleaned, or "dipped"? I don't have a parts cleaner or the motivation to do it myself. It's gotta be close to Marietta, too. Thanks.
I'm looking for the gasket between the bellhousing and transmission for my Toyota W50 five-speed. Does anyone know where I could find one? I haven't tried Toyota yet (It's Sunday evening). Should I just silicone it?
Thanks.
I was looking at Mark's NOS fan shroud and noticed it was black. Mine appears to have a cadmium or zinc finish left on it. What's the correct finish for the fan shroud on a '77? Thanks.
