Like you, I had the same problem. My wife came up with a solution. She mixed 2-3 different color leather paints she purchased from Tandy until she got the match she wanted. 2 years later? Still looks great. Based on the fading of the surrounding area, there's really no way of telling you an...
Completely agree!! I should have mentioned that in my earlier post. Although, considering the expense of reupholstering, including all new padding isn't much more. I've never done one without the other.
I had the front seats and center console reupholstered here in Tucson. The company did a fantastic job and it is extremely comfortable. The leather matched perfectly. I didn't have any prior seat heater issues and they still work great.
I never knew that they weren't standard Phillips head screws. When I rebuilt my '70 from the frame up in '88 I thought they looked very standard. I will say, the impact driver became my best friend. The hinges around the vehicle were the worst...
I would definitely add an impact driver...it saved me some time on rusted Phillips Head screws .. (Think hammer striking a large spring loaded screwdriver)

Actually, it's rather ingenious.... As long as its reinforced in the back, I think it's good. If you're trying to save money and not buy something, I understand, but if you want comfort, look to a Mitsubishi Mini-Van rear seat. Very comfy.
Here's a guy I really like (@Chowcares): He did three different/follow-up videos on the subject because he didn't like the first results. I've done this now and it works great! No more water in the axels, TC, or Trans.

Definitely not a US version stock 1971 FJ-40. (very nice looking though). It appears from the dash photo that the transfer case shift pattern is the same as the knob photo I uploaded. With the transmission in neutral, the transfer case would shift from 2Hi to 4Hi moving the lever front to back...
Tim, it's also possible that you have some slop in the shifter. It's quite common. Typically, a US version transfer case shift pattern would look like this if it's on the floor. Can you upload some photos?
Is your 1971 Fj-40 stock? 3sp or 4spd transmission? Do you have a picture of the shift pattern which is traditionally on the glove box? Can you upload a picture of the shifter as well?
My 1970 came with a vacuum actuated front axle transfer case (pull switch on the dash next to the emergency...
I'm confused. You first stated that you were driving around with the transfer case in Neutral. Then you asked; "Is there an adjustment I can make to make sure the transfer case goes into neutral?"
In order for the vehicle to drive anywhere, the transfer case must either be in 2H, 4H, or 4Lo...
The EFI issue is actually quite simple to fix. I have a 2000 LC100 that definitely was having the issues described. I'm not sure I would call it a "safety issue", but it certainly was an annoyance. Here's the fix: EFI Relay Bypass Kit (Immobilizer Fix) for UZJ100/LX470 -...
Clearing emissions as DSRTRDR said earlier is pretty easy. At the age of mine, it's just a tailpipe sniff while spinning the wheels at their prescribed RPM (I think...). I usually just tweak the carb and check the timing before I go. It is fully warmed up by the time I get there.. They don't...
I have a '70 FJ-40 and I live on the extreme fringe of the city of Tucson and don't qualify for the emissions exemption. The state policy is that any vehicle newer than 1966, and the owner lives in the Phoenix or Tucson metropolitan area (read between the lines - this phrase is extremely...
