Hey all, so wanting to refill the old BJ74's A/C and was considering doing it DIY with a recharge kit. I'm a little new to A/C and after looking through the manual I can't seem to identify which one of the two charging ports is the low pressure and high pressure side...
One port is facing...
Hey all,
Got rear ended AND had my parked cruiser sideswiped in Vic the same week.
The sideswipe took out the left hand mirror on my BJ74, and the rear end did some minor bumper and rear door damage.
Have been to a few shops and no one wants to touch it, OR if they are "maybe" willing to deal...
Hey all,
Had some asshat side swipe my parked cruiser the other day and he took off the left hand powered mirror (24V).
None of the insurance shops want to touch it, any suggestions on sourcing a replacement?
Thanks
Hey all, looking to have some refurbishing work done on my BJ74 (rust, weld, paint) plus a new exhaust plus some other misc rebuild stuff (front diff etc), maybe some custom fab work...
Was planning on taking it to Radd Cruisers but as I understand it John's left town and the shop is closed...
Hey all,
Does anyone happen to know if it would be bad manners to replace an alternator pivot bolt with a fully threaded bolt?
Heard a clang the other day in my 89 BJ74 only to find the alternator hanging limp. The upper bolt had sheared because the pivot bolt had lost its nut and backed out...
I had to pull the drain plug on the 74 to extricate a few liters of water...
nice and dry, put the plug back in and poured in a Jerry can of fresh Diesel.
I did NOT prime the fuel system as I figured it was going to take a while to pump that much fuel through the lines; whats the chances the...
There is a pre mix available that's purpose made for mixing with Jet A for use in tugs etc.... not sure of the name, but the guys giving you the Jet A may be able to get it for you...
Ya I figured that may be the main issue; has anyone here actually mounted a 2nd alt to a 13BT while maintaining the factory AC unit?
any bright ideas for location/ alternator selection?
Iv been running an equalizer for a few years but have had a few blow out on me; Im kind of leaning towards a...
I am in the process of installing a 2nd alt to a BJ74 (13BT) for charging a third battery RE 12volt system.
Iv sourced a reasonably small Nippondenso unit that I think MAY be small enough

Example of size:
my first thought was to somehow fab a bracket to replace the power...
if they are still both connected to each other (parallel) then yes just toss the charger on one and they should both fill up;
if you have a fancy charger you could pull them and desulfate each one independently
Has anyone tried mounting a secondary alternator to a 13BT?
My battery equalizer has kicked the bucket and im looking for a more fool proof solution to the 24/12 problem....
I MAY still just go with a converter, but here's what im thinking as another possiblity:
using this

bring new oil and a catch pan/bottle
I ended up getting my 74 stuck+hydro locked a few weeks ago; it was under for a few hrs and im still drying things out...
EVERYTHING took on water; was able to do the enigne oil in the field but had to wait a few hundred KM before I could get the gear oils...
Ok so ended up doing the following on the advice of some guy at the alternator shop:
Transpo - Toyota
I - IG & L
A - B
S - N
F - F
B- - E
Stat Out - unused
Im not convinced this is 100% correct; as now when I turn the key on I do NOT get the filter, charge, and turbo lights...
Hey, so after my little adventure in the water tracked down my electrical problems to a wet regulator;
I know there have been some threads on here with possible alternatives, just wondering if someone here can give advice on the correct wiring if im swapping the dead stock unit in for a solid...
Ya I didn't think the 13bt had an ecu, when I first got it running again the key wouldn't trip the shutoff vane, however after a few hrs of running that issue seemed to rectify itself.
Id still love any input to the above electrical issue; ie voltage fluctuations when minimul load is applied...
Hey thanks for the heads up Radd;
Anyway yes moral of the story is 3"s of water can become a few feet of water if your driving on silty gravel, I did NOT plan on ending up in the creek;
the engine ran for a few minutes while I was freezing my butt off trying to swim my winch line over to a...
So...... a longer story to follow, but the jist of it is my truck spent ~2-4 ish hrs having a bath; after the ordeal I have a few questions should anyone have some input...
1) What is the proper way to drain a 13BT considering there are no glow plugs; I ended up just draining the oil/water...
Hey, thanks! Finally got that issue resolved, however ended up making a new one in the meantime,
While trying to get a wrench at said bold I decided to take the power steering belt off to get some more room to move.
However the power steering tensioner was seized to its slider, as a result I...
