Looking for some helpful hints on best methods for swapping a trans. I have a 3 ton jack, and a trans jack. Please advise on best way to accomplish the process to prevent injury to the parts, and me of course. This is my first attempt at swapping a trans. I do have a perfect record on a solo...
I've done two windshields jobs in the past two years- one for a friend that had a lot of rust. For his, I used the rivets, with a piece of cardboard against the windshield for protection. Being an amateur riveter, it was a PITA, but I got it done.
Last week, for my rig I did something a...
Sigh. I’m strong enough to admit I did this two weeks ago, installing new control arms on multiple days of little sleep, working after midnight to get ready for a 5k round trip to Cruise Moab. Passenger side tbar bracket flip. It bothered me for a bit, noticed my error on the morning of my...
registration opened at about 158 pm, I made it to page 9, just before payment page and the website is now crashed. it would seem there is some interest in the event. UPDDATE- website back up and registration was able to process registration at 220.
I'm buttoning up an engine swap, installing an '04 motor into an '01 Hundy. This ground wire is listed on the 02.2003-05.2005 production dates. ( It is not present on my 99 so can't cross reference).
Checking all details on the replacement engine, I saw the pigtail of this ground remaining on...
I've reached an impasse in attempting to separate the engine from the transmission. You name it, we've tried it. Mechanic friend with over a dozen engine pulls and I have been patient, but patience running thin. Jacks, blow torch, raising engine, shock drop with a 2x4 support under trans, pb...
I have to ask...how easily did the motor separate from the trans for you? The cruiser I'm working on is a bit stubborn. Motor seems to be fused to the trans. Friend and I worked it over for a couple hours today, to no avail. Next is a torch on the dowels!
Well...my 99 tranny needed a rebuild last month unfortunately at 350k. Seventeen years of loyal service to me, who’s to complain. Whatever, $2600 on a rebuild, money well spent. Back at it and ready for a few 100k more.
For 100 windshields, would highly recommend purchasing new outer trim molding and inner trim strip that covers rivets, and the rivets of course. Recently did a friend’s windshield, used Transparency Auto Glass out of Garner. Jace and Daniel were careful, no extra charge for a second trip after I...
Not too sure on the details, but I believe it ran for an extended period low on coolant. An indie shop and a dealer both confirmed head gasket failure and after listening to the engine, its obvious. We lucked out (I believe) on the donor. I had called on another engine at a salvage yard in MS...
Prepping for an engine swap on a new friend’s Cruiser(blown head gasket, coolant leak). Valve cover gaskets, plug seals, starter and complete timing belt job with all the toppings before the install. So easy with the donor engine on a stand. 👍
First, congrats on having a starter that hasn't failed yet at that mileage. Second, I would suspect a fuel pump failure given the fact you stated that it cranks. Other potential problems given your symptoms would be a bad Crank position sensor, or the engine immobilizer causing an issue...
