While you guys were dealing with the heat, we had the cold and rain. I have not seen so much rain at my place before, over three days it must have rained 4 inches.
The work needed to get done, I put on a rain coat and kept going. I did build a fire at night as the cold and damp goes right...
We call those the wood tether. I don't know specifically about yours, but my neighbor goes through like 10 cords of wood feeding his beast. He's always cutting wood to feed it.
He's getting up there in age, and is looking for something less taxing.
Yep, blaze king. It has a thermostat that can regulate the heat. It's a catalytic stove, but I've never had an issue with it. I just blow out each year.
It's super efficient.
It's amazing that same structure would have been 300-350k 3 years ago. I wonder if you could get the dirt work, utilities, and slab work done this year, then do the building next year when hopefully prices come down. It's still going to be hard to get any building supplies as contactors are...

Sometimes it's easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission.
The next winter they torched off the pile..as long as it's old wood, I doubt they would care.
You have a lot of decaying wood on your land. That stuff does not burn well. We just took all of ours to a FS burn pile and dumped it there. It really cleared things up.
The only way it works, is to love work.
I lost count of how many days we started at 7 and ended at 7. Going to bed with a leg twitch because your muscles were so fatigued. It's amazing how a body can adapt to 5 days of that. Then I went back to work to relax.
It sucks to get hurt while building a place. I tripped on a rock once and I had my impact gun in my hand so I didn't want to break that so I tied to use my other hand to break my fall. I broke my hand and that shut down building for the day. Sometimes it's better to not be in a rush. I know...
That building kit is a hefty price. I would shop around, you could save some significant money there. I think you're other estimates are reasonable.
I understand you on happy wife, happy life. I would probably do it too.
I pity anyone building right now. It crazy the price of...
you want to build in the most expensive time ever to build anything.
With the cost to prep the land, bring in utilities, build, and finish out... it's going to be close to 750K.
My dad was a contractor and when he was doing the hiring instead of the foreman's, he would ask to see how a person drove a nail. Most would bend the thing before it went in. It was a quick way to weed the herd a bit. Knowing how to drive a nail square is a lost art these days. I can...
It appears mike at OCP looked for a month and finally canceled my order because there was no caps anywhere to send.
I guess for whatever reason, Coleman can not fulfill some orders for parts. I guess COVID has finally hit the Coleman world.
Be careful using that grapple on stumps. Stump work is hard on any machine, but especially hard on a front end loader and the hydraulic cylinders. Pulling stumps twists the front end loader with built up force from trying to pop them loose...hung up on the teeth and then letting go. It...
Is this true? I would not build a cabin with those plans I gave you as your first run at things. The roof was a complicated pain in the ass. It stretched my mind for sure.
Start watching Larry Haun stuff on Youtube. He is a production framer, but there are endless tips to pick up that...
