Can I do it in 48hrs?

Oh, and X100 on getting someone to help that's done it before. It will save you SO much time. See if you can bribe someone in your area with beers. Just have them sit there and tell you what to do.

Can I do it in 48hrs?

So much good information on here. After I did mine, I drove around for awhile and then checked the preload on the wheel bearings again.

    carb squealing???

X2. Is it a whistle or a squeal? I have a high pitched squeal and using a spray bottle with water tracked it down to one of the pulleys (power steering?) I just one at a time hit the center (axle, spindle?) of each pulley and suddenly on one of them, no more squeal for 10 seconds or so. I found...

Replacing shocks...what else while I'm down there?

Might be really obvious, but have you checked your spare tire? Mine was frozen solid on the hanger and the chain had to be cut to get it off. Was flat too.

Replacing shocks...what else while I'm down there?

Kidding aside, check your knuckles for grease leaking out and if so, get ready for some fun. Maybe take a look at your brake lines, inspect diff breathers, grease the driveshafts/U joints, you could change the transfer and tranny fluid. Look over your tie rod ends, grease those. I'm sure someone...

Replacing shocks...what else while I'm down there?

While you're under there, the best thing to do is don't look around much. Keep the lighting to a minimum and FOCUS on what you're doing. Otherwise, you'll stay under there for several days and come out broke! Good Luck!

Can I do it in 48hrs?

I did one side a few weeks ago, it's messy as fxxx. Once you get one side done, the other will go much faster. Just get at it and ask questions here and you'll be fine. Be careful with the shims on the knuckle.

Where things stand now- fj60 rehab.

Well, I finished the I/E manifold gasket replacement. I did new gaskets all around, EGR, downpipe, between manifolds (they were totally blown), new fasteners etc. Got it all back together and fired her up, let it come up to temp and had some black smoke and idle was at 250 rpm, at 250 it was...

    Anyone recognize this part??

Thanks. Yeah, thats around where I thought it went, but that's not it. I have that part and a pic of it on the manifold.

    Anyone recognize this part??

Putting my manifold/carb back together and have this part that I can't seem to figure out. Can't find it in the manuals. I think it's for somewhere maybe behind the carb toward the firewall, but not sure. Definitely around or on the manifold. Looks like a hose bracket of some sort. Took pics...

It won't run and I don't know what to do.

Just a disclaimer: with my posts your getting some of the most uninformed information out there, but hey, it's free. Try the 180 thing just to rule that out. Major exhaust obstruction? Serious valve problems? Just throwing s*** out there...

    manifold insulator plate .000???

Thanks, hadn't seen that one. Good info on there. All these threads should be linked to that I/E manifold sticky. Just got mine sandwiched back together, came out WAY flatter than it was before. Bolting it to the head today.
