Practically speaking, if you let it pump until the needle stops rising, it doesn't make all that much difference.
As long as you do it exactly the same for each cylinder.

The small ones get in through the back vents, I have found. Didn't believe it, but in and out they went.
It's been a really bad year for mice up here. They got the pickup, too.

Work on the negative side. That way, when the wrench bumps the body, it doesn't get a chunk out of it.
Textbooks that recommend the positive terminal are good to use to start fires with abovementioned wrench and spark.
And some hydrogen gas from a battery that's been charging. Although that...
In the old days, the recommendation was to change your oil after an extensive run with the choke
pulled. I don't know how much validity there was to it, but the idea was to get the unburned
fuel and extra pollutants out of the crankcase.
I can't imagine there'd be enough washdown
to matter...
I'll bet you it doesn't get even lukewarm at idle! OS is dead- on- in lots of cases, it's acting as an oil heater.
It'd be pretty easy to hook up a water- to- water heat exchanger in the coolant system somewhere...

1- also curious
2- a scraper, driven into the gap between block and pan. The thinnest one that you can hit with a hammer. Don't drive it in too far.
The 2F has the most 'stuck- on' oil pan I've ever come across. Also, ironically, the leakiest...

Sorry if I missed it- how did you hone the bores before re- assembly? In my youth I messed that up once...
I haven't found any brand pf piston still available except ITM, and they aren't very... confidence- inspiring.
I used them, and afterwards, really wished I'd spent for OEM. Yes, it's a...
When it's overheating, do a flying pullover and see if the lower hose is hot- like, way too hot to touch
(bonus points for IR temp readings)
If the lower hose is HOT, the radiator's underperforming. Time for new radiator. New radiators CAN be bad, but it'd be unusual. Unless it's blocked...
Yeah- rule #1- do what your rebuilder says. As long as they specify a higher- ZDDP oil.
And if you can get them to write their requirements on the invoice, so much the better.
Beyond that, there's nothing WRONG with a ZDDP- rich synthetic after the rings have seated- camshafts
seem to like it...
