I checked the price on knock sensors...are they really $200 a piece? If so, I think I'm good...way good. I'm sure I would get an error if they were failing. Also, removing the intake manifold is quick, just the cost of the gaskets...it's the starter that makes me curse while I'm standing on...
Thanks Malleus. I found a great website that will make pigtails for almost every connector. Check out Ballenger Motorsport bmotorsports.com. So, I ordered the starter and knock sensor connector and they will be here on Friday.
Great tip for the pin connector removal tool. Wits' End's...
So I'm halfway through replacing the starter in my 2000 LX and want to know "What would you do?"
Question 1) the connector clip to the starter solenoid snapped when I pressed to release it. My options are:
a. Secure the connection with some type of glue, silicone or zip-tie.
b. Purchase a...
I need help. My 2000 LX has the remnants of a factory cell phone system. I just removed some of the components while installing a new stereo system and now I've lost the connection to the left rear speaker. After reviewing the FSM Electrical Wiring Diagram, I found the same speaker is used...
I'm working on my 2000 LX470 replacing the Nakamichi head unit and keeping the factory amp. I have all the parts to build the 22-pin connector and plug into the factory wiring harness. But, the first thing I noticed is that it's really difficult to remove a pin once it's installed. So, I...
I’m re-installing the entire interior after fixing several roof leaks on my 2000 LX470 and I came across the wire underneath the passenger seat. It’s near the amp, but doesn’t plug into it and there is no match on on the seat. The car did have the factory cell phone kit the appears to have been...
I had the same problem. Replaced everything with OEM; upper control arms, lower control arm bushings, shocks & globes, rack with tie-rods, sway-bar bushings and the rack mount on the front diff cover. No luck. Finally took it to the dealer. They said the lower control arm bushings were the...
Thank you both for the quick reply. BreckenridgeCruiser, can you post which crimper and pins you had success with? I have to make two connectors, so DYI is the way to go for me. Also, you extra pins you want to part with, I'd be happy to purchase them from you. I will most likely need...
Can anyone tell me what this heat sink in my 2000 LX470. I think it may have been installed by the dealer under the running light dimming recall. But, I'm not sure. I don't have on in my 1999 LX470 and I declined the dimmer when the dealer offer it. If it is the dimmer, can I remove it?
This thread is an awesome resource. Thank you to all who have contributed. I'm in the process of adding an Alpine iLX-w650 to my 2000 LX470 and I'm working on building the Lexus 22 slot connector. However, after reading the entire thread, I still can't determine if there was a good solution...
I can say from experience...go with new OEM lower control arms and don't mess with rebuilding the old ones. I spent too many hours and dollars chasing down a vibration issue which was ultimately corrected by replacing my recently rebuilt lower control arms with new OEM ones. Unfortunately, I...
Thanks for the advice. I agree, the sunroof looks like it's sitting a little low. However, I don't think the seal between the sunroof and the body is leaking at all as the drip trays are completely dry after running the hose. I believe the seal between the glass and the seal is leaking at the...
Hey Bryce470. Thanks for the photos. I've purchased the same Alpine iLX-W650 head unit and will start the install this weekend. I'm going to retain the stock speakers and amp as the Nakamichi is plenty sound for me. I had a Kenwood unit using the same factory Nakamichi amp set-up in a 1999...
