unless you used 11 cans of brake cleaner to clean all the old caked-on oil that had built up on and around where the valve cover gaskets were leaking - you will probably have oil smoke for quite some time until all of it burns off of the exhaust manifolds.
The ticking sound is leaking exhaust manifolds, but that shouldnt be leaking enough to cause the codes. An engine vaccum leak or something like the may cause the codes. I would get a copy of techstream and make sure your voltages look good coming from the 02 sensors
i dont know the answer, but due to the confined space around the tank , it is likely that you will need to drop the tank. I've dont it, and it's actually not that hard. just make sure the tank is as empty as possible !

I am amazed at the pile of parts cut out and on the ground. it makes one realize how much goes into a SAS conversion. I bet the pile weighs less than the solid axle itself!? Great work, you sure do work fast. this would take me months and months to
Dont be afraid. there is 20 years worth of posts about 100 series on this forum, the depth of the info here is insane. There is nothing that hasn't already been done and documented here. If you get stuck, create a new thread and be amazed at how many people with real expertise jump in to offer...
I would recommend getting yourself a copy of Techstream ( not very expensive to buy on ebay) This is dealer-level software , you
you can connect your laptop and clear all kinds of codes. I think airbag codes need to be cleared with Techstream (but I could be wrong)
Good on your tackling your issues and getting your hands dirty! Great Looking truck . i plan to build a sleeping platform just like that very soon, just bought the wood !
theres's a perfect spot in the 100 series engine bay where the AHC pump used to be, that's where i put my 2nd battery and its been fine there for over 3 years.
