Unless you are cutting special size timbers, I think you're better off using manufactured lumber which has been cut, kiln-dried/heat-treated and planed to uniform size. On a small scale(i.e. not automated), there is more work to it than most people realize. Also, before building anything, you...
Having built many custom closets over the years, I have some input.
Most of the online closet organizers are geared towards closets and the relatively light loads they present. They usually hang from the back wall on a metal rail. Although they may claim a weight rating that makes this method...
Interest ? Are you kidding ? I'm from all the way over in Indiana and I'd be interested. Still hoping to do the Dusy Ershim trail in California sometime in Sept and maybe Whipsaw too. Would like to stay in the loop though I understand there must be a limit. I have Stihl chain saws and I...
Learned some time ago to just whip the Super Siphon in a circle over your head a few times and the centrifugal force will remove most liquid residue and leave very minimal smell.
I normally don't fill them until I'm ready to head off road but even if empty I use a cable lock to secure them by running it through the handles and around roof rack bars. If full, my Scepter caps are always so tight that nobody would get them loose without standing over them or using one of...
Just ordered a gal of medium quartz gray for some storage units which are wood and will be primed, as recommended, before coating with Monstaliner.
Does this material cover better when rolled or when sprayed ?
I do have a Shutz gun and MEK in stock.
Super Siphon is the way to go.
I have four of the Deutsche Optik jerry cans and have been pleased with them. I use the SS with them.
I have two Scepter jerry cans on one nozzle. For some reason the nozzle leaks like a SOB when used on one of them so I leave it at home most of the time and...
I am impartial but according to their website (and the box on my porch) they have a UV additive of some sort because they call it "UV resistant".
Whatever the case, I will probably switch to Monstaliner for future projects due to positive feedback I've heard on it and the many available color...
I had a couple of Scepters strapped on their sides on my roof rack and they swelled so much that they bent the roof rack under the cans. Of course, they were strapped down pretty snug so they wouldn't move around.
Just a tip for others looking to do something similar . . . look into boat building and kayak building to learn lots about this. Stitch and glue kayaks can offer lessons in bending plywood, glassing with epoxy and painting.
One issue you may run into is the instability of purchased 2 x 4 stock...
The brackets have bolt holes but they welded all the way around the perimeter of the bracket.
I will likely spend the dollars to rework the trailer sometime, especially if I start taking loads to Jersey/Maryland again in the future as I did pre-crappy economy. This will include new axles...
My only experience with these is on my 7 x 14 cargo trailer which has the two Dexter brand torflex axles. This rides super smooth and takes holes with grace unlike the violence you may witness with sprung trailers. On single axle trailers they seem to ride much smoother with less bounce, IMO...
If you are getting tear out with with a regular blade or with a dado set (especially on cross-grain or melamine) a cabinet maker's trick is to lower the blade to 1/16" or so high and make a scoring cut. Then raise your blade to the correct height and make your final cut. I've even cut melamine...
The Freud 508 is a great set which I have used a great deal in hardwoods and plywoods.
I also have an Amana 8" stack dado and an Amana 10" stacked dado. These are more expensive and I save them for use in melamine and laminate where any tearout/chipping is unacceptable.
Routing is also a...
The reviews of this unit are not very positive.
