    Engine rebuild?

Good to know that a brand new bottom end is available. What is the advantage of using this and swapping my rebuilt top end vs paying $4,000.00 to CruiserParts for a complete reman motor ? I'm deciding between purchasing complete rebuild and having motor shop transplant. I thought that...

Looking to get my engine rebuilt.....

If the bottom end truly does show minimal wear even at 300K miles. I would assume a nice top end rebuild would be the best option ? As for V-8 swap vs rebuild. I would just assume keep the original drive train going. Possibly add the new turbo kit. I appreciate the 4.5 Liter heart of the FZJ...

I got that email also. Wow! 9k$ would make me much more interested in the little cummins once my factory motor officially retires.

    Squeak in the rear?

Same problem here. Light (but annoying) squeak from somewhere under the rear. Most easily heard when going slowly over small bumps. I always hear it when going through a drive through.

I'm looking for someone to wheel with in NWA area

I've just gotten situated with new job and house up here. I'd like to check out some local spots one day too. I've been to Hot Springs a few times and really enjoyed it but have recently thought about finding a few places closer to NWA.

    Oil Burn Between Oil Changes

My 97 is burning about 1qt of 15-40 Rotella every 300 miles. No external leaks at all. I just need to figure out if its bad valve seals or piston rings. The dang HG is holding strong though. . . . .

Huge mileage increase after replacing cats and sensors!

I agree with the OP. I replaced my clogged up factory cats with the Magnaflo y-pipe / cat unit & replaced the O2 sensors at same time. While I've never calculated the MPG. I can PROMISE you that the fuel needle stays up ALOT longer than before.

    FZJ80 Oil Choice? (April 2017)

15-40 RO*TEL I use this because of leaky valve seals. It has helped the consumption somewhat. The oil loss due to excessive burning is kind of aggravating but I only drive mine around 3K mi per year. If I ever have to get the HG replaced & get new seals at that time.....then I'm not sure what...

Losing Motivation To Keep My 80

The honest responses on this thread remind me why I appreciate & trust the members of this forum. I agree, a 20 year old 80 series may not always be the best financial decision for a DD. There are those people who will sell the family dog before they let that beloved LC go & I think that is...

Looking for replacement leather options for my 96 LX450

Great thread to follow. I haven't seen a direct comparison of LC Heaven to Lseat in color. However, I think I'm going to go forward with Lseat dim grey on the back seats which dont see much use & LC Heaven on the fronts for higher use & arguably higher quality. I'll be waiting for warmer weather...

Tips Needed for Catalytic Converter Removal and Installation

What year LC do you have? Might be a good time to replace w/ the magnaflow 23120 setup. I recently did this to tackle an exhaust leak & clogged convertor. The ID of this unit is slightly larger than stock, which I think is good. It is bolt on easy also. I soaked the rusted bolts w/ Kroil for a...

    Landcruiser going prices?

I'm sure cash for clunkers destroyed quite a few of the early models, which would account for a small spike decline. I remember that the salvage yard workers would pour liquid glass into intake & then redline engine until the vehicle finally died. This poor FJ60 was beast.....

    The importance of coolant flushes

Regarding the recurrent brown discoloration to coolant. I believe that it may be due to excessive rust in the system which can settle in the bottom of the block & remain outside of the regular coolant flow pattern. It probably forms a tough sediment layer that gets stirred up and diluted into...

    Time for a new winch

Warn 9.5 CTi here. SUPER fast line pull ! I believe this is one of Warn's top level units. It has worked well. It is also covered in a shiny black powdercoated body, making it nice to look at if you have to mount it exposed. I bought this winch new on CL for $750. It was in factory box with...
