Finally getting to my knuckle rebuild, going well, but nudged my index ring loose on one side. Upon repositioning I notice it is slightly bent and has a bit of a bur on one edge preventing it from seating properly, I can get it in, but it doesn't seem to be holding in firmly, like I might bump...
I've reconnected this before and don't remember it being such a p.i.t.a. hind sight is 20/20, I know, because it would have been easier to do when the throttle body was off. Can someone give me some advice to make this easier.
Having trouble getting my engine and trans. back in. I have done this once before but this time I'm not doing something right, I was able to get it in most of the way till my hoist was at the front of the engine bay and I had a foot or so more to go to the engine mounts. I think I had the...
pulled back the plastic conduit around my O2 wires on the engine harness and the big fat blue wire has a smaller gauge wire spliced onto the end of it. Noticed this on both O2 wires coming from the main harness. Doesn't seem right, thinking of splicing in the right gauge wire on the ends.
Cleaning my Oil Cooler last night, I accidentally mixed up the orientation of how the cooler sets in the housing. There is some stamped lettering on one side of the cooler on one of the raised squares. Can anyone shed some light on this for me. Is there a directional flow for the oil through...
Putting the keepers on my very last valve last night and one of them "took flight". One second it was there and the next, it was not, didn't even make a sound when it landed. Just spent some time tonight scouring the garage, and nothing. This my first attempt at doing my own head work, and...
I want to do a valve adjustment, but have no sst's. I will be taking off the head soon. can i take my measurements with the cams in place, remove them and then deal with the shims at that point?
I have a burned up Catalytic Con. and want to replace it with a matching bolt on unit. The vendor is asking if I'm looking for the right or left Cat. ? Aren't they identical, or is there specifically a right or left?
A while ago I had a spark plug come loose while I was driving; I think the threads were destroyed and the plug dropped down to the point where it made contact with the piston, and as a result it left some dings in the top of the piston. Ive had my head reconditioned and am ready to put it back...
After throwing a spark plug on the number 1 cylinder I notice some minor pitting in the top/center of my piston. Do I need to have something done to it or can I just reassemble and not worry about it, the walls look fine just the top of the piston.
I marked my drivelines before removal but noticed some marks got cleaned off a bit, I think I can still get them back together right. This driveline business is a little vague to me as I'm a shadetree guy. I was wondering how a person would re-install them if no marks were made at all ?, is...
I'm pulling the engine and drivetrain in my 93 and I'm to the point where I need to disconnect my drivelines. I generally understand they need to go back together exactly how they came apart and I need to make marks to ensure of this. The threads I've been reading seem to convey to me that it...
Need to pull my engine and I've heard alot about pulling the drive train with it. I'm all for it but have never pulled a truck engine. Here's the silly question- am I going to be able to pull engine and tranny with my 1 ton foldable floor standing engine hoist? Does it all balance or do you...
I am looking for a machine shop in Salt Lake to take my head to. I have to have a spark plug insert installed and i was wondering if anyone could turn me onto a good shop?
I have some rusty exhaust bolts that need to be cut off. Thought I would take a stab at asking if there are any mudders in S.L.C. with a cutting torch that could help me cut off some bolts? Open to other suggestions.
thought I had blown my head gasket, heard a pop then all hell broke loose, sounded like my exhaust was coming straight off the block it was so loud, no blue smoke though. upon further inspection I found the spark plug loose in my #1 cyllinder, plug wire was bent and real messed up, need to get...
First time changing center diff. oil. Can someone please help me locate the filler hole. I see an allen head bolt that looks like the one --just want to be sure.
