Just changed BB fluid for 2nd time...after almost 2000 miles. 16ozs came out (same amount I put in, which means no migration through seals to tcase this time). Condition was pretty good actually. No burnt smell, and color was normal. Zero shavings on plug magnets either. Overall report = STOKED!
I ordered directly from 3xm website, but now it appears their site is down:

I got a pair on my 62...about $800 (usd) shipped from Australia, for both. And was here inside of 2 weeks after ordering. Very straightforward install...not 'easy' in the sense that it took probably 3hours, but very simple (and did all by my lonesome). Friggin LOVE them! Another advantage over...
Absolutely don't mind! Much appreciated in fact.
My thermax sticker readings of <220d are not worrisome, but that temp is high enough to degrade oil (especially for long periods). Plus, they are on the outside of the case - and the oil itself on the inside is always going to be a little warmer...
Finally got around to changing the BB oil (actually, finally got around to posting about my changing the BB oil a few weeks back); was about 2000 miles since the installation of the '2nd gen' BB - thus my first time changing the oil with the new BB; my findings:
Overall condition was OK...not...
Georg's experience would overrule mine, but I am fairly sure that fuel tank relocation is necessary when installing a BB into a J80 cruiser, regardless of transmission (I actually first picked up my BB from @dirtyboots because he decided to change directions on his build for this very reason).
I'm not aware of any, but @orangefj45 can say for sure since he put whatever's inside, inside :) I will probably use redline heavy shockproof gear oil when I change it.
I have one of the two '2nd gen' BB's that Georg has installed, in my 1989 FJ62 (she's a bit enhanced though...tipping scales at close to 6,500 lbs) and my rig is driven on highways MUCH more regularly than trails (unfortunately).
I previously had the '1st gen' BB in my truck, and experienced...
I just put 37s on my '89, and pre-emptively removed the mud flaps. don't anticipate needing them again. Email me at zoverlander@gmail.com and I'll send you back some pictures to see if you're interested :)
I recently upgraded the interior of my FJ62 and am selling the OEM front seats I pulled out, along with the black vinyl JDM seat covers I had been using.
All cushions are in great shape; the driver seat bottom cushion has been mended, but looks and feels great.
There is some damage where the...
