I've completed a frame off resto of my 1975 FJ-40, 2F engine. The engine is the problem. Can't get it to run correct. It's just crap. So bad I took it to Toyota where they assured me that they had some "old timers" who could fix an ancient engine like mine. Did not work out well!
Here is...
I need the exhaust manifold for a 1968 to 1974 2F engine. Will buy for cash whole manifold if necessary. Have JTI headers that I can't get to fit my engine if that helps the deal.
Thank you
D. Kane
Need just the exhaust manifold but will consider whole unit . Will throw in JTI Headers that I can't get to fit on my 2f engine in the deal, plus cash.
Thanks

Getting back to assembly of my 1975 FJ40 and can't remember what the heck goes in these two holes in the dash. It's the two holes just above the ash tray (photo attached). Any ideas
/ Also, I was sure that the other photo was of the dash map light that fits under the dash pad but for the...
bought an Aisan carb that was supposed to be for my 1975 FJ40 2F. Now I'm not so sure. How do I tell what the ^%$& it is. It says Aisan on it and is marked 180 - 3j15 on the top but it does not look like any of the carbs shown on SOR. Am I screwed?
1975 FJ40 Frame up de-smogged
Going from 32/36 Weber to Aisen OEM. Anyone have pics or parts of the original linkage I would appreciate it. I assume the accelerator pedal will work. Anyone have any tips on what to do I would appreciate that also.
Weber will go on eBay if no one on this...
I'm ready to switch over to front disks. Any opinions on whose kit I should buy? 1975 FJ40.  :Doing it myself is possible, finding the parts and modifying is not. I need to buy the kit as complete as possible.
Thanks in advance

OK, I've got the rear dif taken apart, that was the easy part. How do I reassemble it, specifically how do I get the spider gears with the thrust washers in place so I can put the spacer in to receive the retaining bar (pinion shaft) ?
So I was cleaning up the work area after removing front and rear axles from my FJ40 frame so I could send it out to the sandblaster. While cleaning up I fount, on the floor, a rectangular plate aprox 3 inches wide and 5.5 inches long. 3/8 of an inch thick with a dimple in the middle. It was...
REmoved the axles from my FJ40, sent the frame to be blasted. Since I am putting disks on I removed the diff cover plate, took out the shaft and spacer and the spider (?) gears. Was able to bump the axles in to get the "C" clips out. This allowed me to remove the axles to take off the brake...
Hopefully this is an easy questionj, how do I get the Warn hubs off?
Second, I removed my rear axle and while it was siting on the floor with the output plate; ( where the drive shaft bolts) I noticed that oil was leaking down the output shaft onto the floor. Anything here I need to fix...
fj40 1975, got the bracket, brake line, loaded caliper and have had the new rotors bored to fit the axle (cost $25 bucks at local cowboy machine shop)
Do I need to replace the wheel studs when I do this?

I bought a used auxiliary gas tank for my fj40.  :Does anyone have any experience in hanging one of these? I fits between the rear bumper and the round cross member that the shock tops bolt to.  :Don't know if it is strapped on or bolts to the body?
Thanks

I'm restoring my 1975 fj40 so I can have a vehicle to tow my duck boat. I anticipate that the rear axle may on occasion be sunk all the way in water at some of the primitive ramps I use. Is there anything I need to do to vent anything or move any vents so the rear axle won't get flooded...
Stock fj40, doing frame off, will use it on the road to tow my duck boat .
Doing a shackle reversal which will lift the front about 2", going to lift the rear with 2.5" over size shackles to compensate. Just took off and trashed the shocks that were on. Anyone have suggestions on what shocks...
I have the replacement floor for my FJ40, 1975. This is the reeplacement panel that has the cut-out for the transmission and goes from the foot well back to the where the tub steps back. It's the one you can see on CCOT. Need help, where is the floor spot welded to the frame? there is a...
Engine is out of my FJ and I have removed the exhaust/intake manifolds. Question: The two bolts on each end of the exhaust manifold were just that, bolts not studs. Is it possible the PO had the studs back out and replaced them with bolts or is this the way it should be? Books are not clear...
Just removed the trans/engine/tcase. When I removed the front drive shaft there was a LARGE crease/dent in the body of the unit. My question is: can this be repaired? Should it be repaired? Should I just bite the bullet and buy a new or used one?
The crease is between the universal joints...
