All the wiring is done(I think). When I turn the key the starer just spins, it does not engage. Checked the wiring, it's wired the way painless says. Any thoughts as to why it's not engaging? It started before the rewire.
I made jumpers for the painless turn and haz flashers. I'm using the using the stock switches. I can't find how power is getting to the right turn side of the harness when the parks are on. I just pulled the fuse panel out can't find anything wrong there. I must be missing something...
I just finished taking a part the front and rear harness to check the wiring. Nothing is connected wrong. Now I'm taking the dash a part. I fracken hate painless!
79 FJ40 and the very painfull(painless) wiring harness.
I'm trying to figure out where I went wrong. Here's what it's doing:
With the parking lights on only:
front right - park light on and turn light on dim.
rear right - tail light on and turn light on dim.
hazards on only:

I'm wiring a 79 FJ40 with a Painless harness. The E brake light part works fine. Master cylinder pressure switch part I'm not so sure. When I turn the key on the brake light comes on. If I step on the brake it goes out, is this correct? If so what applies pressure when it's running?
Thanks for the photo!
I'm using the 79 light switch, but I don't see how you would wire it. My diagram doesn't show a wire that would only turn on these lights...
How would you wiring in the interior light in the dash and under the dash in a 79 FJ40? The Painless harness does not have a wire for them. Also if anyone has a photo of the location of the under dash location that would be great.
The Painless wiring only gives you 3 wirers for the dimmer switch.
A wire for the headlight switch, the low beam and the high beams. The diagram show 4. Painless says I don't need to add the 4th wire. I'm thinking you need it am I wrong? If I do need it how should it be wired in with the...
2nd question same truck.
The book shows the wires should be:
light blue red - ACC
black yellow - IG
black white - Start
Light blue red- AM (what does that mean)
The plug has:
light blue red - ACC
black yellow - IG
black white - Start
white blue - AM
This is how I plan...
My diagram for a 79 FJ40 does not show the wiring for the internal light in the light switch. Is this light on only when the lights are on or is it always on?
