I have been using a Hella Vision Plus lamp for about 20 years. They are a conversion lamp, which accepts a H4 or HB3 bulb. It has a front bulb shield, which cuts the glare to oncoming traffic. A HID conversion kit fits just fine in these, with similar performance and cut off (the arc is...
I have some items up on the Raleigh Durham craigslist. Search FJ40. List includes...

Best Top Soft Doors.
Rear end panel for when top is off.
Bikini tops.
Roll Cage from 1981 FJ40.
Rear tire carrier, blasted and painted with urethane paint.

I did something like this a long time ago. I started out using a few IRF450s, but later used relays. Not too difficult to implement, and this construction does not require the use of diodes. I have re drawn this and hopefully the image will post ok. Note that the IGN, PARK (parking lights...
Selling my 75 FJ40 that I built mostly for the trail.
Would like to see a knowledgeable Cruiser fan buy this.
Posted on craigslist, then got a bunch of people that made appointments to see it and didn't show up.
Posted on ebay, then the winning bidder tried to fraud me by stating he was...
I have decided to sell my late 75 FJ40. I posted it on the local craigslist site (Raleigh/Durham). I took the body off and blasted it clean when I restored it a few years ago. Fabbed new floor pan with heavy guage steel, so the body is very solid (although I regret not ditching the diamond...
I don't mean to offend anyone, but the only thing I have seen from this topic is opinion without value added. If I were trying to decide which coating to use, I'd probably want to get my hands on some data... or at least some data sheets to compare if I really wanted to help.
If you really...
I'd be concerned about the original paint under the new coating. New paints have far better adhesion to bare metal. I blasted my vehicle a few summers ago, and I did just what you did. Some of my personal experience.....
Blasting - I started out with fine silica sand because it was easy to...
Fuses protect wires, not components.
General reference below... Not true in all situations.
18 gage - 10A
16 gage - 15A
14 gage - 25A
12 gage - 40A
If in doubt, go high on the gage size and low on the fuse.
Ffor your meters: 18 gage because it's easy to find and use 5A fuse to protect the...
I've done everything up to a transfer case (including differentials) in my home made washer...

5 gallon bucket (free)
5 gallons of gas - $15
stiff brush - $3
6" PVC tube, fitting for the bottom of the tub - $3
electric fuel pump - $40
Respirator - $25

No pic yet, but I removed the ash tray (very easy, only 2 screws) and used the same 2 holes to mount L brackets (easy to make with 1" x1" aluminum). The width of the CB was just a little smaller than the opening. The CB had mounting anchors (threaded holes) near the front, so I just used some...
I used one of those clear glass filters, and that was ultimately my problem. It didn't flow enough fuel at higher speeds. I switched to another filter and that solved the problem.
I couldn't find a datasheet when I looked on the site. I wouldn't buy a coating that I couldn't get a datasheet for, as I wouldn't know what I was really getting.
Adhesion issues on clean metal... That should concern you. There's a lot of choices for you at your local AUOTMOTIVE Refinish outlet (PPG, Sherwin Williams, Dupont, etc). Get some data sheets, ask questions, and compare. You will find that there are better choices than POR. Light Industrial...

I ground off the stud from the back side of the plate, then purchased a stud from $OR that bolted on. This was several years ago, but they may still be available.
I had to do this with an aftermarket fuel sender.

do a search for "fuel ohm" that I posted in June of last year. I had to do a spreadsheet to help visualize, but it works fine.
Good luck
If you are going down to bare metal, there are several options that you can consider (you get what you pay for). My advice if you want it to last is to go to a automotive refinish outlet (sherwin williams, ppg, dupont, etc) and get some datasheets. I used an industrial coating from PPG. A 2...
I use a carter rotary pump. It is quiet and has lasted several years so far. I purchased one of those "square" ones and it ran very loud (drove me nuts). I think the carter ran about $40.
It really depends if you'd like to stay legal. The optics difference between European lamps and DOT lamps is significant. I wouldn't call it "far superior", but just different.
I suspect that you would not have any law enforcement issues if you chose the European lamps and aimed them...
I have used Hella Vision Plus lamps. The housing replaces a standard H6024 lamp (7" round lamp). The bulb is replaceable (the bulb configuration is called HB2, and is the same as H4 except the pin assignment. H4 is for Europe, HB2 is for USA).
The model number is 70477. You should be able...
