Ok, I gotta ask. Why swap the headlights? It seems you put a bit of effort to install Kelly's grill and buckets and there are lots of options nowadays for single round led lights.
Was it better light output, aesthetics, or you wanted to increase the air-miles bonus on your credit card?
Break out your calipers and measure the diameter of the RCV birfield. If I recall, both @Broski and @baldilocks recently had quality control issues with the machined surface of their RCV birfield or shafts.
If you do get the ABS ring on, I would also test fit the spindle before putting...
Not an early style dash, but I bought a Dash Designs cover a couple years ago. Added it to my Rock Auto cart on a whim because it was on sale. So far, it is doing it's job and looks OK.
It's not the hard PVC dash cap listed by the OP, but not a plush carpet either. I chose the perforated...
In addition to the excellent advice above, I can suggest also:
1. Send an oil sample to Blackstone for analysis. It can determine if coolant is moving into your oil. This can be evidence of head gasket or oil cooler leak.
2. A brown sludge can be observed in the bottom of the overflow reservoir...
I think that what @mudgudgeon is saying is that a 105 series truck is heavier than an 80 series truck.
His point is that even with the extra weight, Toyota felt it was sufficient to run the smaller u-joints in the rear shaft.
What about while the engine is running? We need this data. Disconnect any accessories wired to the main battery and check voltage accross the terminals while engine is running.
12v is low for a healthy, charged battery at rest.
Shorted cells in a battery should cause voltage drop, rather than...
OEM short block is the way to go given the cost of machine work here in the Bay Area. But yeah, plan on several months of downtime. Mine's a daily also and I had to borrow a Prius from a buddy. It sucked.
If you start shopping for a block, you might want to talk to local dealers. Stevens...
Such a bummer. If part of that chain slipper cracked the rest is probably brittle as corn flakes. Have you removed the front timing cover already to replace it? If not, from my experience doing a couple of head gaskets and a short block swap, at this point you might as well pull the engine...
You and @Feldrian are correct in that there is not much lateral pressure on the circlip. The two snap rings simply prevent the inner axle from walking side to side. The flat snap ring prevents the axle moving toward the birfield and bottoming out into the bell. The wire circlip prevents the...
Glad RCV took care of you.
Did they ask you to ship back the faulty shaft? If not, I wonder if it is possible to have a machine shop mill the surface down to the proper diameter. You'd have a high-end spare! Not sure if that would mess with any heat treatment though.
As a buyer, there is little that you can do to definitively diagnose all the potential problems with this engine.
I would not assume an oil pump failure. They rarely fail on 1FZ engines. However, they are tensioned and driven by the crankshaft. A loose crankshaft bolt will allow the pump to...
I lived with a cracked bezel ever since I bought my 80 series back in 2003. This year I finally replaced it. So satisfying.
They're only 8 bucks at Partsouq. Add it to your next order.
I think I have this solved.
I cleaned up the ground for the brake lights that is located under the tailgate. Instead of just wire brushing the terminals like I did the first round, I cleaned, tapped the threads and put in a fresh, clean, shiny, zinc plated bolt.
Then the drivers side...
