If there is no freon in the system do it yourself! It takes about 30 mins to replace the condenser or about 3 beers. You only need help to carefully reinsert the new one. Just get the torque specs RIGHT.
I 've got my 91 in pieces right now for a water pump and A/C job. PM me with what you want to know and I can probably help some. If the compressor is coming on at all, then you still have some freon in the system, I believe it is somewhere around 1.0 lbs of freon or below that it quits coming on...
Changed mine (3FE) over at 190,000 to M1 10w-30, no problems at all. It swelled the seals and slowed the seepage I had at the pan. I soon changed to M1 0w-40 due to consumption issues with the 10w-30. Now I have no more consumption and no problems. Like others have said, you need to address the...
Cruiserhead05, I did the same exact thing as you are pondering. Bought the head unit and the adapters from CC and plug and play. Just remember to cut out and or block the power antenna wire (IIRC it is blue) and that's it. Well you need a spacer or pocket to fill in the space. If you want any...
I agree with checking your rear drums first. I had the same problem when I first got mine (it's a 91). I flushed and bled the system first(including LSPV), still had the problem. I then did the booster test (it's in the FSM, Haynes and here in past posts), that was okay. I then pulled the drums...
Thanks for all the replies and pointers. I am going to do some more diagnostics this weekend to determine the extent and depth of what I need to do if anything. If I NEED to do this, I'll document the whole thing and post (maybe to tech or FAQ). After all, it's just a little seepage, for now.
Sorry to bring up another oil pan question, but the last round was all about the 1FZ. I need to change the oil pan gasket on mine due to leakage. Question 1 is: is it as straight forward as the FSM says it is? Meaning, are there any surprises or tricks, especially getting the new one on the pan...
Another 2 cents worth...
Thoroughly(emphasis) go through the brakes. I bought mine at similar mileage and have been steadliy chasing down the brake demons. Front brakes especially (calipers, rotors, hoses, wheel bearings, lots of fluhing and bleeding). Unless you have WELL documented and verified...
 Gentlemen,
Thanks for the links and the food for thought. I'll try Cdan's test this weekend. The noise is not torture yet but noticeable.
I've checked out those links and those a good options (4.88's, ARB and 33's :D). I will do some more isolation and trouble shooting to confirm. I...
:doh:Apologies for the spelling, just now got recheck my post. Thanks for the replies and suggestions.
DanKunz- that's what I was thinking, I was pretty sure I got it in time. The seal failure did lose some fluid but I only went about 30 miles at a reasonable speed before stopping and...
??? >:( I have front differential whine (not grind) upon acceleration through first and second gear. I don't have any distinguishable noise upon deceleration. Some background/history: 223k, regular changes of diff fluid (every 15K), no evidence of contamination or axle seal failure, fresh fluid...
Anyone running this (M1 0w-40) on a 3FE? I just started using it about 1000mi ago and have almost no consumption, gas mileage change is negligible, but my oil pressure indication dropped lower as compared to M1 10w-30. Any takers? Similar experiences? Am I about to blow up my venerable 3FE :D ???
???What about O2 sensors, clean the throttle body and intake, double check ALL the vacuum lines...??? I don't know that you will ever get it completely smooth. I 've done all that you have and above and can't get mine perfectly smooth. I just live with it. Maybe somebody else has a trick or...
:beer:Pay no attention to "Bigdude" He's just mad cause he got caught at Ft Green by our "high speed" security personnel in his heep rock crawler. Seriously, he's got a bad a$$ rig. Kevin, who is the only person at IMC you know with a cruiser??? I done some wheeling on our property and it can be...
Flush/bleed it FIRST! The PO who had mine obviously NEVER bled the LSPV(or anything else) and it FULL of crap when I flushed it. Also check to see if the LPSV is leaking. I wonder if your fluid is just OLD. Old brake fluid breaks down to a dark cloudy mixture that could look like oil. Like the...
 Shizzit, would love to get something going, if I can ever get my rig 100%. I just had some stuff snow ball me (exhaust, birfs are due, pulley probs, etc..) and haven't been able to get caught up on it all.
Still researching getting use of my company's land (at least 80,000 acres), but we...
:) Welcome! Since I am here I'll respond. Send a PM to cruiserdan, he's the resident parts guru with EXCELLENT service and prices. He can get you ANYTHING you need. In addition to your owners manual, order a factory service manual. It is well worth the 75-100 bucks as it will save you $$$$$...
8) The coastal/beach towns can be just as hard on a cruiser as possibly snowbound town up north. The summer squalls blow in from the gulf daily and blow salt and sand everywhere. In the interior it is a cross between an African savannah and a rain forest with the high humidity and high heat (...
>:( I too live in the infernal regions in S. central FL na dhave the same problem/s. This is covered in search, but, here's what I've been doing:
1) get some silicone spray, marine grease or lithium grease or syl -glide (silicone based grease).
2) inspect and...
