Heron, You could go with a Vernier Cable which allows you to set the RPM by pulling up on the knob, fine adjust the RPM and the quick release by pressing the knob back down. I have mine attached to my transmission shifter. I use mine for setting a higher RPM when winching or inflating tires...
I get most of my switch stuff from http://www.otrattw.net/. The "Wench Power" switch was my solution to underhood lighting. They did not have anything specific so I just picked something frivolous.
That is the route I went Honger. I modified my roll cage to add an overhead console. All the switches are attached to a panel that is hinged and can drop down to access the aux. fuse box.
The box is basically done and I use it when I'm on the trail. However, I have not finished everything I want to do yet. I put the project on hold while I worked on customizing my roll cage because I needed to know where the cage C Pillars mounted. All that is left is to figure out how to...

I have a similar setup although I don't have the Ram Jet intake. As you noted above for the bypass, I teed off the water pump line for the coolant bypass and it solved my overheating issues.
Phil, Not sure if this is what you are looking for or not.

I went with the serpentine setup because I wanted to use the AC bracket to mount my York OBA compressor. Kilby Enterprises has an adapter that fits in the factory AC bracket. It did make for a tighter fit though. When I had a V-belt, I was using a long shaft, water pump. But with the...
The Ranger was installed by the previous owner. However, I replaced the 327 it came with to a 350HO SBC with a short shaft water pump and upgraded to a serpentine setup. I can say that the radiator is in the stock location. The tranny and TC appear to be in their stock locations but I am not...
Freeway speed around here is between 60-70 mph, depending on where you are at. Obviously at 70 mph, the RPM's are a little higher but not by much. On the spacing with a Ranger OD, I agree that you need to make sure that you do not push the engine too far forward. I have just enough room for a...
I've had a Ranger OD for over 12 years now behind an 360 HP SBC and stock tranny. I have had no issues with it to date. I have not changed my gearing because I plan on going with an Orion to get lower gearing. There is more noise when the OD is engaged but I think it is relative..... it is...
I am not sure how using a little bondo to fill pin holes in the joints makes it "wonky" as you say. I would agree if I slapped a big 1/4" layer of bondo on the bottom of the plate that would be stupid as it would fall off on the first hit but that is not what I did. BTW, the picture just shows...
