    [NY] FJ60 Rear Hatch 1985

I have a rear hatch that is mostly rust free that I pulled from a 1985 FJ60 available for sale. Silver in color, some scratches in the paint, but otherwise in great shape. The only area of rust is some bubbled paint on the bottom right corner of the window. Also comes with the two rear struts...

    Paint recommendation for black pieces

Rustoleum Professional Grade Flat Black for the wiper holders. It reduces the glare from the sun. As the oem paint faded my holders exposing shiny metal, I kept getting blinded when the sun hit them just the right way. Flat black took care of it.

    ACE tintable Rustoleum product

I've always had a keen interest in this since the beginning, though haven't been ready to paint the truck yet. So after an ACE just opened here in town, I decided to check it out and see if they still mix their oil based paints. Good news is that they still do it, unfortunately they will stop...

    F to F2 Motor Upgrade

I chatted with Jim C many years ago while I researched the same F to 2F swap into my '71 FJ40, and kept his comments from back then. It may be relevant to your situation. "I would agree that upgrading to a 81-87 2F is a worthwhile improvement on any older Cruiser. The 2F will accept the...

    Aftermarket Tail Light Questions

Hey Guys So I bought some late model FJ40 aftermarket tail lights off of the internet for a custom flatbed project for my pickup, and there is a fourth bulb that I'm not sure what to do with. As you can see in the picture, there is the standard reverse on the left, dual filament stop/park in...

Newb paint question - Gun Cleaning?

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. I was thinking between two coats of the primer. The part I left out was the fact that I'm in NY with very unpredictable temps, and I'm in an unheated garage. Cold temps delay flash times but I don't know about the pot life. So I was kind of baking in extra...

Newb paint question - Gun Cleaning?

Thanks for the feedback. I'll have the time, so I'll just clean the gun after each coat. Another question though, say I spray a coat and there is still some paint left in the gun. I'm assuming since I'm using two part epoxy paint that it's wasted paint? There's no way to save it, correct...

Newb paint question - Gun Cleaning?

Hey Guys, I'm going to be painting my truck bed in the near future, and I'm trying to go through the details of the plan before I paint. I plan on painting 2 coats of epoxy primer on the top, sides, and bottom, as well as 2 coats of paint. Flash times for the epoxy is 30-45 min, and I'll wait...

Wanted  Later FJ40 tail light Assemblies

Hey Guys Does anyone have any later model FJ40 tail lights (rectangular shaped) available in good shape and reasonably priced? I'm looking for a set for a custom flatbed project for my Toyota pickup, and would like the flush mount style tail lights. Suzuki Samurai tail lights would also work...

    quick tire rub question

yes, stock wheels. One thing I didn't mention but I belive you can see in the picture is that the 2x2 sits about an inch higher than the frame where the axle would be located. I'm going to build wheel well arches for clearance to the bed, but I'm just a little worried about that one peice...

    quick tire rub question

Hey Guys, I'm in the middle of laying out my flatbed/box on my '90 Xtra cab, and I have a question about tire rub on the rear frame. Here's the deal. I"m trying to maximize the interior box space, and every inch counts. I'm using 2x2 square tube to run the length of the box, which will...

Help Stop the Youth ATV/Motorcycle Ban - CPSC Lead Ban

Ih8mud lurkers and members, If you have a few minutes, this AMA link contains some automated letters to your congressmen (and women) asking for an exemption for ATV/bike manufacturers from the new lead law passed by the CPSC. The law was intended to prevent children putting imported lead...

    After timing chain...won't start

With the limited information provided, it appears that the chain is a minimum of two sprocket teeth off at the cam, based on your comment that you installed the chain with the two shiny links (timing links) at the crank instead of the cam. Count the number of non-shiny links between timing...

Went to the New Tundra launch class today.

You're not the only one, there are still some of us out there that like the narrow dimensions of our older trucks. I cringed when the new Taco came out and had increased in size, and I cringed when they announced the Tundra increased in size something like 5" in height, and 4" in width. Don't...

    Pics of tire sizes..no lift

I'm currently running 31x10.50 BFG-AT on my '90 which were the stock size so no problems. I'm going 33x10.50 next, and my inspiration is this: http://www.yotatech.com/showthread.php?t=74326&highlight=35+stock+tire Probably not the best for offroad, but on road it seems to work for this...

    Rattle Can Paint Job

I've been considering a rattle can paint job for mine as well, and in my travels on the internet I found which I think is the longest internet forum thread in history, but a good read nonetheless on the proper technique for rolling paint on a car...
