So you're saying there is no way to adjust the catch point of the clutch and the slipping (foot off clutch, going up hill and the engine starts revving while speed is unchanged) is the clutch going bad?
When the clutch is totally done will the slave self adjust to the point that pressing the...
Okay, maybe a different problem, maybe not.
My clutch pedal is in the correct position, but the engagement of the clutch seems right at the top of the pedal's travel. In fact, it seems that the clutch is still a little bit engaged (feels like the clutch starts to slip when engine is pushing the...
All I can say is that with my rebuilt box and new hoses, I'm running the Sag without any pressure reduction and I have no leaks. Only been a few months though.
What @orangefj45 said :)
I have a rebuilt RedHead box, new hoses and fittings and feel pretty confident that it won't leak (knocking on wood right now). If you're a belt and suspenders kind of guy, the Borgeson pressure-reducing kit is only about $25 and isn't hard to use.
PSA related to this - Borgeson sells a pressure reducing kit for the saginaw pump. With the kit you can reduce the pressure and reduce the risk of blowing seals in your steering box.
Also - I highly recommend RedHead Steering Gears for rebuilding the power steering box. They rebuilt mine when I...
I put new carpet in my Sep '85 cruiser this past summer. I pulled the seats, door cards and rear side panels, pulled all the old carpet, pressure washed the interior (what was left of it), then laid down a bunch of sound deadener and installed the carpet.
I was steered toward the '86-'87 carpet...
My parking brake cable is binding up and won't release. I know it's the cable and not the levers on the drums because when I disconnected the cable from the passenger drum lever, the park brake released completely from both wheels. Sometimes when it won't release, I can put in in reverse, turn...
Follow up on what I ended up doing for anyone wondering.
It seems almost all the aftermarket FJ60 pumps are made by BBB. I bought one that said it was a Duralast pump, but it came from BBB. I've had BBB pumps before and they don't last. You can get them with lifetime warranties but you'll have...
If you're running 33" tires and are thinking you need to regear to 4.56 gears, it actually costs LESS money to do a TC gear reduction and PT conversion instead of regearing both axles. Although, I don't think the TC gear reduction can go lower than 4.56 equivalent, so if you're one of the...

Will the 62 pump work on a 60?
So far it seems I can order one from amayama for ~$820, or I can get a Duralast or NAPA one for ~30% of the cost, put Amsoil ATF in it and hope for the best. Is that what I'm looking at?
So it seems the fj60 power steering pump is a discontinued part.
I can get a NAPA or a Duralast or a BBB Industries pump all with a limited lifetime warranty. Problem is, I've had aftermarket pumps before and they don't last. The one in my 60 right now is from Rock Auto, it was made by BBB...
Okay, got the front driveshaft installed per FSM and it's happy.
I got the rear drive shaft back from the specialist, put it in and... no vibration!
Probably should have started with the $75 rebalance with the specialist and saved me a bunch of headaches.
Next, figure out the knock in the...
Is yours a Land Cruiser or an LX? Asking because I know the LX has way more holes to fill and I'm wondering the cost. If yours is also an LX, cool, if yours is a Land Cruiser, then I can expect it to cost maybe double for my LX
First, thanks all for the responses. Some updates:
I think it's unlikely that the lift is causing the problem. It's the 2.3 OME lift and it was done by the PO many years ago. I don't know if the PO did a geometry correction or not, but I've been driving it for years and not hearing this noise...
