Mark, that was my LC. I replaced my front driveline with a factory toyota unit that was rebalnced and what not. I then sold the vehicle shortly after that. I cant say what fixed it because i didnt notice it much after the driveline replacement.
Whats getting it in writing going to do. Gasket can go whenever it wants to. Its not like if the dealer says its good, then it pops they are gonna pay for it.
I say if you get the temp right, leak fixed, no signs of headgasket issues (check for hydrocarbons in the coolant), you should offer...
Ya, if i would of known this before hand. I would of just rebuilt mine.
I read and read tons of posts on the taco shaft and its all about strength, no vibration, and all that good stuff.
I got the shaft for free through my work. There was no real way to test it since it was off the vehicle. It felt tight. BUt wasnt. I like the fact that the spicer stuff is greaseable, and i cant imagine its going to fall apart right away if serviced correctly. From my understanding, its just...
Is the tacoma shaft stronger then the factory shaft?
Well, i got what i wanted for 300 bucks. All within toyota specs. I also found a reliable driveline shop in the process.
Once again. AWESOME!!! Even though i have a functioning shaft, i feel like it was for all the wrong reasons...
SWEET!!! I thought the whole point was to have the cv section and because it was stronger then the factory one.. I feel worse and worse everyday about this whole thing.
No, mine was a factory toyota shaft. The cv assembly had play in it. They replaced it with spicer parts. Spicer says 30-40thou is ok. But its not ok. Most vehicles it would be but in a situation like ours with the lcs, you need it right.
When my shaft was off the truck it felt great...
Yep. Dont let them follow spicers tolerances because it does NOT WORK. I had it balanced, rebuilt up to 4 times. Finally after i took it to a DIFFERENT shop who cared, told me what was wrong and i told the other shop that if they didnt get it vibe free, i want my money back. I got it back...
You want the rear shafts off the taco. NOt the front shafts. Im sure you knew that just clarifying.. And mine was a standard, but standard and auto it doesnt matter.
MAKE 100% sure you go to a GOOD driveline shop. I JUST went through this friggin nightmare. 4 or 5 times to get the...
I have almost an identical lift. I put the Js up front, and the 1" trim packers. My castor is 3* just like factory. WITHOUT brackets.. Slee bushings and the washer mod. I did need to get a DC front shaft and make a new tierod bar. But it looks really good. Im still running stock shocks...
Update:
Well, when i did the lift, the truck drove great. The caster was at 0*. Factory calls for 3-4. So i decided to dry and get this.. Now mind you.. IT drove fine. I just wanted to see if i could get it perfect... Well, i wish i didnt try.
What happened was i installed the slee 3*...
Welll well well.
I finally got it vibration free. I finally sent it to another driveshaft company and they tell me that the cv has 30-40thousandths play in it.. So i take it BACK to the original and tell them what i found. I then tell them i need it fixed right this time or i want my money...
Update again. Called them, let them know what the other shop found and they picked it up again.
I highly doubt they are going to fix anything. Maybe just balance it again... I will then just request my money back so i can have this other shop make one correctly.
Got some new info...
Took the driveshaft off and brought it to another shop. This guy takes his time and does what it takes to get it right. I explained everything, what i wanted, where it was going. Everything.
He calls me about an hour later and tells me that there is 30-40 THOUSANDTHS...
LOL. I should of left it in that state. My castor was a 0*, no driveline noise. Car drove fine. Then i went and had to get picky and get the castor to correct specs. That screwed up everything.
I went and reread my thread. Nothing to update yet. This whole driveline issue started once i put the black 3* bushings in. ahaha Then i got the driveline grrr...
Updating now. I feel the vibration in my butt and down by my feet.
As i was driving into work today i was wondering if you would do that. I would send you the money for it, put it on, and if it fixes the problem, then i have some recourse with these people. If i cant get my 300 dollars...
