Yes I do feel I'm geared too low sometimes, especially with 6.34 first gear, but with the NV4500 wide ratios it performs much better than with 4.11s. I think I've mentioned before that @orangefj45 warned me about the NV4500 being a poor choice for the OM617, but I was too dumb to 1) understand...
Flopped on 22. My fault. Luckily nobody hurt. The DLC crew sprung into action like true warriors. Back on the trail in 40 mins with 2 qts of oil. Baselined everything Sat and wheeled Sunday. Drove it back 240 miles Monday.
Buying these for the crew next Christmas:
Looks good! My oldest son just turned 12. They're actually functional now, haha. Jack helped me all yesterday afternoon getting the heater plumbed. He even had his first "can you please hold the flashlight steady / quit shining it in my eyes" moment.
I'm about to have 5 BFG 33x10.50 AT's for sale - they're old but still have a lot of tread left. Would be great for a trail rig.
Should be going through Chattanooga sometime friday. Lmk if interested.
I'm still alive.
Trying to get the 40 ready for the DLC trip to Wind Rock park for Coal Creek Winter Summit.
Punch list:
- Heater
- Get top and doors back on
- New tires
- Wipers (stretch goal)
Might not seem like much but I'm knee deep in dental school (D3)
I didn't want to drill any...
@daner thanks for the update and I love the new color. With respect to the increased water temps, did you keep the OEM oil cooler? I went with a smaller 3 row Mishimoto for my oil cooler and I've seen 220F a time or two thanks to my warning light. I know these engines are notorious for building...
Have you called "Sounds Great" on Hwy 31 by Archie's BBQ (Golden Rule). My experience was buying some replacement door speakers for my F250, but I was very happy with the way the two gentlemen ran the place. They were very knowledgable and have been in audio their whole lives.
Yes I think I bought one of the last ones. If I had it to do over again, I would go H55F. @orangefj45 told me the wide ratio of the NV4500 would be less than ideal, and he was right, but I already had the rebuilt transmission in hand.
I have no idea. I did a driveway alignment years and years ago. I've always been surprised at how straight the truck tracks on the road. It does seem to be wearing a bit too much on the inside of the tires.
