What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Appears to be charging but won’t start the next morning after a drive. Put it on the charger twice, successfully, but the third time the battery charger wouldn’t work with it. Local Toyota dealer replaced it after testing but spent most of the morning trying to get my VIN in their system...

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Didn’t want Desert Tan anymore but wanted to stick with an actual FJ40 color. So I went with this although I really liked the white and green also.

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Been waiting a long time for this post. I upgraded my garage! The before photo ... and the after photo (13 years after). It was restored by Amazonia 4x4 It was manufactured in November 1971 so I don't know if I have a 1971 or 1972 FJ40. I did add A/C so I can drive it in the Summer and got...

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

I know almost nothing about auto mechanics but was able to get all the lights & turn signals on my FJ40 working pretty much with the same process. It is sometimes perplexing to fix something that was installed/replaced by people or parts manufacturers who surely know a heck of a lot more about...

Driving 330 miles in my FJ40 - talk me off the cliff

After a few years of not doing much, my FJ40 is on the home stretch of its’ restoration in South Florida. Current progress at Amazonia 4x4 shown in photo. I’ve been having the same thoughts. After reading all these posts, I’m not so worried anymore. However, I have been thinking about what...

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

I think red letters would look nice. Is the one in the photo wedged or is that just the lighting.

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Any chance of making an “EJECT” knob I could place in one of the empty holes in the dash?

I'm that guy. 1971 40 in the Lou

Check for "hotness" too if you can I also checked over the ownership records to make sure the people wanting to sell me an FJ were in fact the actual owners of the vehicle. You can verify addresses on Google and check local property tax appraisers records and such to see if the John Smith on...

I'm that guy. 1971 40 in the Lou

Riding part looks good, what about beneath the skin? How do things look under the hood and is it an F engine in it? When I was FJ "cruising" a year ago, a couple I looked at were on nearly collapsing frames. Their owners took a big risk even driving them to where we were meeting (and back...

    71 FJ40 Restoration Advice

Since the Iron Bowl isn't for a few months, I'll help ... but I'll have to resume my I hate Bama stance in November. You have Cruisers in your area, so you can actually meet people face to face in Bham. They have an area on this website: AL- DixieLand Cruisers

    no running lights

Been there, done this... I removed each turn signal and side indicator. Cleaned the units inside/out and wirebrushed or sanded the contacts and grounds. This helped some. Much of the lighting wires run through the emergency flasher switch, so based on some tips I learned on this site, I...

Ran out of heater fuses to test

Removed the wire, replaced the fuse. Drumroll please...... Fuse does NOT blow out in a blaze of glory. Fuel gauge and temperature gauge sprang to life for the first time since I've had the FJ40. Didn't go anywhere since I've pulled out the heater fan for a little rehab and TLC, and didn't...

Ran out of heater fuses to test

I've looked around in the area near the kick vent and can't see any holes or locations which might have grounded the black on white wire in the past. There is, however, a piece of broken bolt stuck in a hole just above the rusted ring connector.

Ran out of heater fuses to test

Mystery wire I had already downloaded the wiring diagram and didn't see where there was a ground connected to the fusebox. There is absolutely a short or something in that specific fuse circuit. The blinkers, brake lights, ect., all work correctly. I'm wondering if the black on white wire...

Ran out of heater fuses to test

Should this wire be here? Back at it after a couple weeks out of town. On the hunt for the short that needs to be fixed, but haven't found anything yet except this suspect looking wire attached to the fusebox. The green and yellow wire is attached via a bullet connector (which looks OK) to...

Ran out of heater fuses to test

It's a 1972 FJ40 with original F engine and other parts (except carb). There is no rear heater or any holes/patches in floorboard to indicate that there ever was one. Body is so rusty, it clearly is not a replacement for the original. PO only worked on engine/transmission, never the body...

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

More than a weeks worth Smaller tires to bring that first step within range of my aching knee... New alloy wheels from a 2010 FJ in Arizona... thanks eBay! Which required 1.25" adapters to clear the tie rod ends... Should clean the wheels & rustproof more of frame...

Fuel Line to Carb (Weber 11046)

Newbie is back with another Newbie stupid question. I am having a fuel leak on this rubber connection from the metal fuel line to the carb which is attached to inlet labeled "1". Leak is on fuel line end of rubber hose (which has SAE 30R6 printed on it and is less than a year old). Hard...
