I just pulled the rack off my 2004. They were hex bolts, not Torx, and I'm fairly certain they were M8-1.25 and were 45mm long with about 12mm of thread on the end.
If I had to guess (and I was just doing a roof rack swap on my 2004 100 series that involved wrestling with that drip moulding), the trim for a luggage carrier has windows cut out that expose the bolt holes for the factory roof rack. The trim for a roof without a luggage carrier will probably...
With the proper terminology in hand, I was able to find this helpful thread on the topic:

Wrestling with body clips is not my favorite Saturday-morning activity.
As one does after posting a question to ih8mud, I wondered if the FSM addressed my question. So I pulled up my digital copy this morning, and I learned two things. First, "Ditch Trim" translates to "Roof Drip Side Finish Moulding". Second, there are moulding clips involved. (See the...
OK. (And thanks for the quick reply.) So is this "ditch trim" the material that covers the bottom of the wide groove that's home to the bolt points? It feels l like it is thin aluminum, and it sorts wants to slide out at the rear of the roof.
Is this something that I should take out...
I'm in the middle of installing a new Front Runner (Slimsport) roof rack on my 2004 100 series. I've managed to remove the factory rack (not without breaking some brittle plastic, but that's OK) and clean the connection points. I've also managed to start the assembly of the rack (putting the L...
This is not a rare problem. Check out this post and the linked threads:

Nice. I cold use a rack with kayak rollers!
The Bowfin site is up, but they have essentially no inventory. I remember falling in love with their rack years ago, and now when I might be in the market, they're ghosting me. Bummed. Might need to consider the Prinsu.
I have a 2004, and I want it to last a long long time. It’s my daily driver and my vacation explorer. Parts for these 100 series rigs are becoming harder to find, so I’m conscious of my rig’s maintenance needs.
Beyond routine maintenance stuff (e.g., fluids, timing, heater Ts), what are the...
Beautiful set-up. Thanks for sharing this. My short-term solution WAS to find a couple more OEM cross-bars, but my attempts to find them have struck out. Maybe I need to keep looking.
I think it's time that I upgrade my roof rack, and I want advice from the LC hive mind on my options.
I run a 2004 100-series with a narrow Thule box and a kayak rack on the stock roof rack. These two things take up most of the room up there. Sometimes, I want to add a water reservoir for a...
Lately, as I've been wondering what work my 100 series needs, my thoughts have been turning to the smell that wafts from my engine compartment after a drive: that dark, industrial hot rubber smell.
Is this typical of cruisers or is there something I can do to lessen the stench? If this is a...
DONE: Did the job as described in various places in the Forum. Worked great, though it took some time and elbow grease. I also forgot to put on one of the boots, so I need to hold on to that to replace somehow/someday.
SOLVED: I found a fourth (and maybe a fifth) cut wire in the harness and fixed with butt connectors. But that didn't fix my power problem. So I decided to go back to the fuse box. Although the bus tested positive with my tester, replacing it fix my problem. (Visual inspection of the fuse...
UPDATE: Bad news. Repairing those three wires with butt connectors did not fix the problem. And I think I've found a couple more broken wires in that bundle. Back to the EWD to try to figure this out in some more detail.
