Rezarf,
I'm in Lafayette about 10 miles east of you. Don't have my hoist setup in my new garage yet so I can't take a photo, but I have all the parts and can easily show you how I rigged it. Very simply and parts cost me maybe $50. I use a 1-ton hand hoist (come along) and a pully mounted...
Check yer points. My '74 had a similar condition and the points were toast. My problem seemed like misfiring on acceleration (or like it was only running on 4 or 5 cylinders) and got progressively worse in a couple days.
I thought fuel system and timing too because all my ignition system...
I recently sold my '70 with F and 3-speed for $3,000 in Denver. Mine had very little rust, but needed headliner, shocks, bushings, springs, and had some oil leaks. Had hard top and bikini top. I thought I might get up to $4,000 but felt like $3k was a fair price. Yours looks like more rust...
I have a Fastrack on my Aqualu tub. It's the only one I've had (just got it about a month ago). I had always just used hard top or no top.
Top seems pretty well made. I've been using aluminum half doors with the upper half of the 2-piece soft doors. Actually have not used the entire soft...
Just picked up my cruiser a couple days ago. Was getting major restoration done (unfortunately I can't do the big stuff myself). Anyway, with a new 2.5" Skyjacker lift, 31x10.5 BG AT's it rides pretty stiff on the road. Doesn't feel like the suspension is flexing much at all. Is this a...
I have a method for 1-person removal/reinstall similar to IDave using a come-along instead of the engine hoist. Have not set up in my new garage so I don't have pics, but its easy and works great. Hope my description gets the point across.
Suspend a pulley from the bottom chord of the...
It's almost entirely stock including F, 3-speed, column shift, vacuum transfer, even the hubcaps. Has a Rochester carb and MAF 6 to 1 header. According to SOR Tech, the engine was replaced at some point by Toyota (the engine tag only says F with no serial number). Engine runs smooth and...
Unfortunately, I don't have the tools, skills or time to perform the engine/transmission swaps or the body work myself, so I'll be paying someone for all of that (the biggest part of the cost). I can handle smaller stuff like brake work, carb rebuilds, suspension tweaks etc. and enjoy that kind...
Looking for recommendations from you experts out there. I've been reading like crazy, but can't decide the course of action to take.
Should I have my '70 FJ-40 restored including disc brakes, a rebuilt 2F and 4 speed and keep my transfer case or get a '76 that is rebuilt completely for...
Yeah, they told me that too. They also said with an older rig you'd have to "custom" install a booster and dual mastercylinder (and these items are not in their kit).
Is there any advantage to a particular year(s) booster/mastercylinder? Since AZkick-n40 and I are starting from scratch here...
You have to install a booster and dual master cylinder too right? That is slowing me down on a do-it-yourself project for my '70 FJ-40. What parts are necessary/recommended to go with the Man-A-Fre kit on older rigs?
