    78 2f distributor disassembly

Thanks to @4Cruisers for the info. I’ll be getting a new advancer from him to get this motor going! I had to carefully rig up a platform on my drill press vise to hold the distributor and went ahead and drilled out the pin holding the gear in place. A gentle tap with a brass drift and the gear...

    78 2f distributor disassembly

Update—I’ve torn most of it down. To remove the shaft, it looks like the pin holding the dizzy gear in place needs to be tapped out? I’d have to figure out how to heat then hold it so I can tap out. Of course, everything was corroded. The advance was a PITA to remove. I don’t even know if I...

    What are these for—rebuild kit

Thank you! I figured they were somehow for the valves. How do I figure out if I need to replace them, or do I just have to remove the valve springs and find out?

Thanks—have about 10gal in tank. Heard bubbles in the nipple most aft—must be supply line. I think I’m good to go!

1976 Fj55 Fuel Tank Routing Question

Hi Matt—thanks. I agree—The supply line appears to be coming from the nipple on the tank that is furthest back? The steel lines were so rusty that I ripped them out and I can’t find my note on which was which, so I’m running with a clouded memory!

1976 Fj55 Fuel Tank Routing Question

Cross Posted in the Fj55 Iron Pig forum— Does anyone know which tube is the supply line and which one is the return line on the front passenger side corner of the fuel tank of a 76 Fj55? This diagram shows the supply line is _probably_ the one further (p/n circled red) back but I wanted to...

I lost my note I made when I took it apart so I’m relying on a shady memory, 😆!

‘76 Fuel tank fuel line routing question

I didn’t think a photo would help as described but I can take one if you think it would. Description is the front passenger side corner of the tank as reference to the fuel inlet and return.

    1976 fj55 rear hatch question

Well, after tearing into it around 11:30p last night, where’s what I had to do: 1. After panel removal, disconnect wires to the power window motor from the electrical panel beneath. 2. Remove spring, and retaining clip from left side of power lift assembly. Remove 4 mounting bolts (10mm...

    1976 fj55 rear hatch question

Hello! Ive got a 76 fj55 and I can’t open the rear hatch. I took the rear panel off and see where the handle pulls the rods on each side—the mechanism is very rusty. I’m wondering how I could pop this open manually with a lever or screwdriver? I can get some movement on each side but not...
