    In tank fuel pump???

I've had it running for about 9 months or so with no issues. I swapped in a '08 5.3 so I plumbed the regulator/filter in tank as well. The hole/bung is big enough that all of that just barely fit in on one shot into the tank. The pump in the tank keeps it quiet. My original idea was to weld...

3 years of collecting - Starting to build the 40. $200

You are welcome Mike. You are miles from having to worry about the suspension. Get the motor and drivetrain in with the tub on. That should be damn near running before you even start to screw around with the suspension. Pick your battle and finish it before you start another. You have...

3 years of collecting - Starting to build the 40. $200

Mike, Put the drivetrain in it first. Then do the suspension. Good prep work is the key. Use good jackstands. I can't remember... didn't you get the Proffit SOA kit? If not, here is how I did mine: 1) Prep the front housing by cutting/grinding off all the existing spring perches...

    78 40 SM465 Vibration/Noise From Trans/X-Case

I am not sure what help I can be other than I had my 465 apart several times recently and went through the t/case as well. I could not quite tell if you said the noise and vibration came while it was in neutral and stopped? Does the noise occur while in all gears or only in third? (also, is...

    centering knuckles using tool ?'s

No help from me Joe. It seems to me that 2.65mm is a lot - but don't take that for anything. Did you do the other side? See what the other side does. Andy

    transfer case - help needed

Toyota of Seattle said there was no possible way they had that part. I sensed he was chuckling on the other end. He didn't even bother to check for part numbers for me. The parts counters at the dealers around here suck.

    transfer case - help needed

Thanks Cruiserbrett. I picked up a 3 speed case from a friend and pulled the Idler gear and shaft and installed them in my case. Here is what I found: a current gap of .024 with an acceptable range between .004 - .016. The manual says there are spacer options: .047/.051 .051/.055...

Crud, I was hoping the various thickness thing wouldn't happen. I suppose one could find a selection... where? Thanks, Andy

    transfer case - help needed

Thanks for the replies, guys. I really appreciate the help. Pin_Head - I think the specs are .004 for the thrust on the idler. That seemed pretty tight to me but I have nothing to base that on. I make sure to check that and do my best to get as close as I can. The face doesn't appear to...

    transfer case - help needed

The idler bearings failed on my 3speed tcase. It looks like the gear was slopping around a bit and the rear spacer spun a little against the case. Is this typical to see some wear on the rear machined face of the case? it doesn't look to be a precision machined face. What is the...

    engine replacement

Wikipedia says no replacing the sleeves. The pics I've found of the block indicate a no on that as well. The sleeves are very thin and appear to be part of the casting. GoISU - the broader the market the better chance I have of finding one. Thanks for the input. Andy

    engine replacement

Here is what Wikipedia has to say on the 1GR-FE. Toyota GR engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia It looks like I am in the market for a motor from: 2003 4-Runner 2005 Tacoma 2005 Tundra or another 2007 FJC. Apparently, the 1GR have a sleeved cyclinder that can not be machined...

    engine replacement

The motor died last year at the 2008 V2R race. Several factors including inadequate air filtration caused it's demise. I appologize if these are very basic questions. I really don't know much about FJCs. I've read that the FJC came with a different motor in the earlier years? This one is...

    engine replacement

Hello fellas, I am working on a project. I usally lurk the 40 and HC forums but today I am here researching FJCruiser engines. Sorry if the questions are a little vague. I am not sure what specifically I am looking for yet. Can anyone point me in a direction for builds or threads with...

    Builds Build up: Rusty Mustard

Thanks! I am not sure exactly how it's going to work itself out on my project. I picked up a stick of 1.5"x.120 this afternoon. I'll play with that to see if I can snake it across the bottom. I am hoping I can keep the spans down and stay with the 3/16". Do you have an opinion on...
