My hzj73 has only 74000km's on the clock and runs like a top. it has rust issues from sitting outside- only in the lower rockers and lower rear quarters. Its an easy fix at this point before the cancer spreads. I think the outer rocker is available but does anyone make patch panels for the lower...
Hello all-
Picked up an Hzj73 recently and it’s fitted with large clear window visors. Being tall they cover most of my field of view out the windows. They’re worse for wear and I’m looking for replacements and want to find some in clear but not have had much luck. I’d also consider a smaller...
Just picked up a hzj73 and need bumpers. Looking at coastal but not sure if they will fit a 91 and unfortunately have not heard back from them. Anyone running one? Guessing the rear will fit with some trimming. How about the front?
Other options?

Just wanted to post this up. I was in contact with these guys before they imported them but ended up having to get something right away.

A buddy of mine here in Japan bought a set of Bestop doors without any handles. He asked me to help him figure out what might fit and how to get it all set up. I'm gonna call Bestop they have to say but I was wondering if anybody else had any thoughts or experience in terms of alternative...
I thought it might be interesting to start a journal or catalog of sorts of people's recovery experiences to help us all create and compare guidelines in terms of our tools and techniques. I think the important thing is to list here are:
1. Exactly what the stuck entailed. In that case I...
So I finally figured it out but it took me a good while. Some of you guys have probably known about this for many years but for those who haven't and are looking for the reason for a mysterious loud "Ka-chunk" when pushing hard on the steering here's one for the archives. But first let's see if...
It's a 1986 BJ70v with 3B, 5 speed, cold climate package (whatever that means) PTO winch with 180,000kms on the clock. The exterior looks very clean- most likely repainted unfortunately. The interior is well used but I'm not so concerned with is looking beautiful. In fact I just want to good...
Until this point I've always stuck with wire rope because it's been locally available and I've always been concerned about abrasion with synthetic rope as often in my recovery is the wire rope ends up against something and also I plan on keeping the stock fairlead (pto winch.) so when I...
I had a few electrical questions that are not pertinent to any particular of the existing forums. If there was a dedicated electrical section it seems like it would be more responsive these types of questions. How about Power Systems / Electrical together?

I'm looking for a skinny 18 inch steel wheel- say 18 x 6 the fits Toyota pattern. preferably the offset would be zero but I'm not opposed using spacers if need be. I'm also not opposed to grinding out the centerbore if necessary.
Alternately I may consider a 17x6" wheel. I know that the FJ...
So I have my espar heater installed and finally hooked up the wiring last night. I ran it with the blower motor for a good while - say 45 min- and the batteries were just barely able to start the engine. Granted the batteries are getting on in age but still the have been 100% reliable to this...
Pretty sure I know the answer to this question but their. I was on the impression that this truck was all original but now I'm starting to think otherwise.
I noticed a little crack and some rust so I got out the wire brush and found this. Pretty sure the factory didn't use Bondo or any...
The lock washer on the 4 studs under the knuckle is particularly thin at 2mm. The all come out totally squished whereas the other 10 and 6 mm lock washers are all thicker and all in decent condition. Is there any particular reason not to replace these with a thicker lock washer?
Here you can...
In my bj46 with the 2 batteries under the hood there is not much room for the coolant heater. I'm thinking that if there is not a problem with running the heater circuit from here I might have my solution.
Is this not at the end of the coolant circuit as the coolant cycles back to the water...
I've been debating this for a while- now it is time to get the welder out. Sliders will be two tubes one running directly under the rocker and one running under the lip of the step. Running the one under the step as in the first picture would make the rear portion of the slider much stronger...
Seems the part number I had for the cable type has been superseded and the parts guys are telling me to get the standard dif gasket and trim it. which I could do but i wanted to to grind the housing in prep before I pulled everything apart. Will the 80 series gasket be the same as the cable...
