Comes with 3 Scepter (Pre-CARB design!) jerry cans and Hi-lift jack mount. FJ40 model. No dents or dings, if that's even possible. The powder coat is worn through where the Jerry cans have been sitting. This is the earlier design where the jerry can/cooler carrier is welded to the arm. This is...

Located in B'ham AL. Assume complete brake rebuild. Looks to have 4.11 gears by turning the pinion and counting axle turns. $200. *edit* sorry I didn't put the location in the title. I can't seem to edit the title or delete the post. ISATI

FJ43 Build from Far Far Away.

Seems like a reasonable size to me. While it does take time to fill a large intercooler, it gets a little too much attention on the forums with very few posters taking time to quantify how long it takes to fill the IC. Here's a thread where someone applied math to the issue...

FJ43 Build from Far Far Away.

I've got an AL radiator very similar to (or exactly like) the Cruiser Corps radiator and I debated using the trans cooler tank for the oil cooler. I've decided against because of the unknowns. First, the OE Merc plumbing is larger in diameter than the fittings on the radiator. I don't want a...

FJ43 Build from Far Far Away.

Consensus from folks who've done multiple manual trans conversions on 617's is that the majority of them are internally balanced. I haven't bothered to get the Fidanza FW from 4x4 Labs matched to the flexplate from the motor. I'll sweat it if it becomes a problem but I doubt it will. This is...

New Addict - need help with some weather stripping

If you can wait, remove the weatherstripping in the coldest weather possible. The glue flakes off in cold weather and just smears into the cracks in hot weather.

***Make my FJ40 more of a daily driver???

With FJ60 P/S, 33" tires and front and rear spring flip to stretch out the wheelbase, mine will do 80 with my pinkie on the steering wheel. I regularly cruise at 80 on the way to work with a coffee mug in one hand. My 2F hates me :p

Fj45 diesel or petrol and turbo info

Gas vs diesel is like a religion question. All answers will be biased. Go diesel. When the zombie apocalypse comes and everyone is fighting over gas, you'll be draining the crankcases and transmissions of all the vehicles out of gas littering the roads to fill your fuel tank.

    Headers or Not??

One vote for "not". I've got a header and it takes forever to warm up in cold weather. Since I bought the rig with a header, I can't say anything about power, but I'm guessing the power gains are marginal.

    Rhino Lining pros and cons

Looks pretty good. Brake fluid will lift the liner if you have to do a spot repair.

Rear Diff Pinion Bearing Replacement Question

Pin Head told you right. In fact, he was probably at least an order of magnitude off, bearing tolerance is below .0001" for even pretty low tolerance bearings. I have had a high rate of success replacing pinion bearings without re-measuring for pinion depth adjustment. There are 2 things you...

Sad day with my new(ly wrecked) FJ40

Me too. Could be an adjuster covering his ass. Is it obviously bent? And what is bent, the axle shaft or the housing? You measure runout of axle shaft with a dial indicator to check for a bent axle shaft, you check wheel alignment to diag a bent housing. If neither of these were done and you...

    Installing all-fiberglass SOR top

I recently installed a FG raingutter on a stock top and was unable to fit the visor (cap) into the top because the new raingutter protruded farther into the interior of the cap than the stock metal one. I trimmed it (the gutter)* with a grinder until there was enough clearance. *edit

Any suggestions for an automatic mated to a 302 to replace a C4?

I can't think of a single 5 speed auto that bolts to a sbf. The AOD is the easiest way to get OD since there's no electronics but the operation of the locking torque converter is a nasty compromise. This trans evolved to the AOD-E and later to the 4R70W. These have proper lockup torque...

    Battery drain rate?

If it drains in one night, look for heat. The source of the drain should be warm.

***Make my FJ40 more of a daily driver???

I bet that 99% of the folks that are bothered by the screaming of their engines at hwy speeds don't have fan clutches.
