I am sad to put my FJ up for sale but I have orders overseas.:frown: I have only had it about 3 years. The Previous owner sunk a lot of money into parts to make a really reliable rig. I haven't driven it much in the past 3 years. I worked on it more than drove it.
Below is my advertisment. I...
Thanks. I was thinking it might be two bolts. So the bottom bolt head should be held in place or welded in place on the mount plate. Should I or must I replace the mount? The top bolt is tight but again the bottom nut is not tight on the bolt. I could probably get the nut tighter.
I was under my 78 FJ-40 replacing an oil pressure sender when I noticed something.
The right front engine mount looked like the bottom nut was not tightened all the way. I grabbed two wrenchs(for both ends of the bolt) and attempted to tighten. The nut did not tighten on the bolt. The nut...
:cheers:You might want to also take a look at the brake line length. From the picture it looks like the line near the right rear axle is pretty tight and wanting to snap.:meh: Good luck with the Cruiser.
Crumbo. Having a switch istalled would make sense. My gauge would only show High or Low.
Green, Thanks for some good explaining. On my last helicopter world we had a gauge of pressure and then a secondary low pressure switch. They would often contradict each other. Similiar to what I...
 Crumbo, Thanks again. That looks easy enough. It shouldn't be hard to find that at an auto parts store. I guess I just needed to see a picture of it to actually get the picture.
So there is the possibilty that a wrong sensor is installed. This pics shows the sensor and it doesn't look like a stock Toyota or even a CCOT. I know there could be hundreds of other sensor makers but I guess replacing a $20 sensor with a known good one should be the next step. Seem like the...
Crumbo, thanks for the help. I never see the oil pressure off of zero after it warms up. Where did you say you got the T from? You wouldn't happen have a picture? :D
You are right about the mechanical gauge with the sensor being at the gauge. I guess I typed too fast or forgot...
I've been driving around for a few years now with jacked up oil pressure. The PO replaced about everything on my 1978 FJ-40. When I start up the oil pressure is very high but within 10-30 seconds it moves to extreme low and stays there.:meh:
I am pretty sure I am getting oil pressure or my...
It is defintely where the voltage regulator went. You must have a newer style alternator that has the regulator built in. You should see an empty connection just below it and another empty connection near the alternator. Just make sure your altenator truly does has a built in regulator and...
My 78 FJ40 spare tire carrier has some movement when driving around. Is there somewhere to buy a kit or what can I do to "shim" it or replace something? I know I might be a little vague but then maybe there is an easy solution..
Thanks,
Cliff
Just to help with the argument, I would also agree with above and say blue (as indicated by the glove box) is the orginal color. I have a white 1978 and I have primer gray under the back door hinges, on the tub where the hardtop sits and on the bottom of hardtop just like in the pictures.
