Ugh, was hearing a metal to metal chirping noise at idle and took look, same thing, cushions are shot. Came here to verify, thanks for this post and info.

Lots of recent upgrades but thinking about selling... thoughts?

Thanks for that info... the last time I was on the Big Island, I showed pics of my LC and the guys there were saying the opposite... that i'd be surprised how much money folks have there (as 2nd homes and such) and would pay top dollar for a "cherry Toy like that bra" lol

Lots of recent upgrades but thinking about selling... thoughts?

Agreed on where to put this chat... We could talk about the upholstery that was recently done... - I paid a local Phx AZ upholstery shop whose specializes in installing just the Katskin kits... I think I paid $1700 iirc for the two front seats, middle arm rest and 2nd row seats. They replaced...

Lots of recent upgrades but thinking about selling... thoughts?

I plan to build my house in Hawaii over the next couple years... Bought land there about 8 yrs ago, been a Proj. Mgr. for many years in my pre-retirement history and want to tackle building my own house as an owner-builder. I just finished with the designs and the survey is in the works so need...

Lots of recent upgrades but thinking about selling... thoughts?

Agreed, which is why we were planning to pay to ship them but building a house with the Cruiser vs a truck would be a little bit of a hassle and the TModel3 is pretty small, and can't fit more than 1 set of golf clubs without having to fold down the rear seats... was thinking of getting a Rivian...

Lots of recent upgrades but thinking about selling... thoughts?

So... I retired last year, sold my house and have been travelling abroad, the Cruiser and my Tesla are in storage. I'll end up moving to Hawaii later this year and WAS intending to ship both of them over but am contemplating selling both vehicles and just cashing out a full size truck and...

How difficult a job is replacing head gasket?

No warpage... cleaned everything up with wirebrushes and solvents and re-installed everything as is... had already done the PHH mod and other repairs items prior. It was 6 yrs ago and I just recall following the FSM disassembly instructions but others can correct me if i'm wrong but iirc, you...

How difficult a job is replacing head gasket?

Blew my HG back in 2014 towing my popup... knew it immediately, limped it back home 50 miles pulling over every now and then to prevent it from overheating adding water to Rad a couple times iirc. I bought the Toyota OEM HG Kit, Toyota Rad Fluid, new belts and hoses, etc. and got started within...

    Power steering leak

Where exactly is your leak coming from? After wrapping up a HG replacement, I'm now in the mood to tackle my PS leak... spent last evening cleaning up the pump to where it was clean and dry and I could see where my leak was coming from. Turns out its coming from the metal tubes flange (bad...

weird oil pressure readings driving me crazey

I literally just wrapped up changing a blown head gasket and once I fired it up, I too got the low oil pressure (just over the bottom most line) after it running at the middle the last 10 yrs... I checked the crankshaft bolt like you mentioned and sure enough it wasn't torqued tight. I spent an...

Blown head gasket, cracked head or both?

yep, only pulled the head and intake assy... So I disassembled the intake Manifold and was able to get a better look at #1 valve chamber and am now sure it was a blown HG there as well. The #1 Piston pic at the top of the thread showed a piece missing that I thought came off with the head...

Blown head gasket, cracked head or both?

The FSM has it being removed as I did it and disassembled on a bench afterwards. I didn't have a chance to borrow my buddies engine hoist so i decided to use the lift instead... super easy. This is my 3rd HG job (2 prior on 3.0 4Rnrs) so my 1st time on an FJ80... so far I'm in about 15hrs...

Blown head gasket, cracked head or both?

I hope your right on the HG on #1... looking at it, sure the ring is warped and there's some missing gasket material but I thought it just came off when I separated the head. I wouldn't have thought that section was 'blown' per say. I've replaced a couple head gaskets on my '89 4Runner before...

Blown head gasket, cracked head or both?

So I was towing my camper 75 miles outside of Phx (trying to go camping) when i noticed my temp going up after being rock solid until then... pulled off at the next exit and LC was idling rough, over-heated and blowing white smoke out the exhaust and evaporating so I'm thinking blown HG :mad...

    1+1=1 Popup Toy Hauler Build

Welcome to the club Nick! As the owner of your initial inspiration, you did a fabulous job. Not sure if you noticed but I came back 3 yrs after my original post and showed how I measured the tongue weight both empty and loaded using a bathroom scale ... I'm getting started on...

Conferr roof rack. Need some advice.

Just looked at your Diamond Rax mounts... looks like a near match to the Con-ferr mounts. The pricing you have for 8 mounts is cheaper than buying 3 Thule Bars and their rain gutter mounts. Good option.

Conferr roof rack. Need some advice.

My 4'x8' Con-ferr came with the bulldog brackets but I never used them. I wanted to switch back and forth between my '96 FJ80 and my '89 4Runner. I bolted the rack to 3 Thule bars and the rain gutter brackets slide in or out for either truck. You could do the same or similar although mine are...
