It's time for me to sell this cruiser. It has roughly 200K miles on it. I don't know the exact mileage because the cluster has been replaced. Clean title in hand.
Condition: Pretty decent. The only know faults are it has an oil leak from the valve cover and the speedometer doesn't work...
P0305 is actually the correct code. That means misfire on cylinder 5. How is the engine running? Is it missing? If the engine is running ok, enjoy your snowboarding and when you get back change your spark plugs and maybe wires.
If you are feeling adventurous, you can see if any scrap yards have any 1994ish or newer Mercedes and use all the parts of it. It uses engine coolant to heat the reservoir and fluid lines are heated via an electrical wire that is inside the washer lines.
I had this same problem and fixed it. My source of the rocking movement was the splined shaft with the plastic gear, not the worm drive. It was moving front and back inside it's white plastic enclosure. That shaft is contained from fore/aft movement by a rubber washer. That rubber washer...
I would figure out the cause of the sound first. Not just a friend's best guess.
Does it tick once per RPM (piston, crankshaft, etc) or twice engine rpm (valve train)?
That's not going to work. OBDII is smarter than that. You will get another check engine light.
Try removing the stuck O2 sensor when the exhaust is hot. It can loosen it up a bit.
