Yeah maybe give it a fresh oil change with more marvel mystery oil or Rislone engine treatment and run it some more....keeping an eye on everything. Run it up a few hills and get it good and warm
Does anyone know if there is a quality starter rebuild kit out there (contacts, plunger, brushes etc) for the ND starter found in the L series diesel? In particular the 1L?

Found that the timing for the L is 0.94-1.06 and the 2L is 0.82-0.98mm.
I am curious as to why the difference, although minor; in timing specs between the L and 2L. I wonder if they have different compression ratios or...
What is the latest/best place to buy an injection pump timing tool/dial indicator mount for the diesels equipped with the rotary pumps? I used to have one when I was into VW's but can't find it and need to order a new one.

Yup running full manual glow plugs. Glow for about 15seconds on cold days/at high elevation. Cycling them after does help smooth things out for sure! but it won't run long enough when this particular issue is happening to get in some extra glow time
The EDIC is non existent in this one, manual shutdown cable installed. BUT....with that, there is "over fuel" position that I believe the EDIC system had for start up. Not sure about that function of the EDIC.

Man I have had great luck with the early 2LT's as long as they are kept from getting to hot. Any chance on saving that engine?
And they got some pretty impressive fuel economy and next to no smoke. At least all the ones that I had were that way. Would not hesitate to buy another
