hi, im a cruiser head on a road trip in a 84 60, and have a failed driver outer tierod end, all autoparts/dealerships are closed, if any one had one they could part with. i wuld apreciate it greatly!
^ that's what I'm thinking, OP take a look at the bolt that goes in from the bottom to hold the carbs together, do they both have a vacuum port running through them?
If you don't have a vac supply to the power valve then the stumble is most likely a lean condition when ur transitioning from...
It's common for them to not be "perfectly" lined up with the holes, ( the machinist is trying to keep oil psi in the crank mains)
But if u can't see the hole in the block through the oiling port in the bearing at all, then the bearing needs to be removed and installed properly, u will burn up...
Last time I had that same cap gun smell it was from an improperly vented distributor, when electricity arcs it creates "o"zone gases, and excessive amounts can be picked up by the nose,
Check cap/rotor condition/ vent system and be sure timing is proper,
$400 I would think is too little, I would question the price/ job,
Front door gasket kits are in the $200 dollar range, just for parts,
I can strip/ rebuild a 40 door in about 2 hours a side,
Figure in ~$95 an hour for labor, and your passed that $400 mark, never mind the price of all the...
Yup, it's just like the carbs Marshal sells, and the jets in the bowl plugs are "supposed" to be the high altitude jets, unless some one stuck them in the wrong spot, props for tinkering with her and getting it right!
I try to tune all 2fs for 20 inches at idle, 750~950 rpm, 12* for base timing,
Most get 20 inches some don't due wear,
And I would be attaching the gauge where the PVC line connects to the manifold,
Nice, hesitation off idle is a lean idle mixture, verify that there are no vacuum leaks, if none are present increase idle fuel mixture by turning needle screw out, perform a road test, and continue to adjust until hesitation diminishes,
The THC is simple, one vac supply on carb base for vac advancement, if your distributor doesn't have vac advancement then just plug at carb, all of the other vacuum lines in your photo are rendered useless,
Bucking and jerking are common symptoms of fuel starvation, next time it happens turn...
Intermittent stalling/ rough idle after a hot run?
I would be looking for vac leaks at the manifold,
No fun under my hood of my 78 and run her hard in the desert never had an issue with vapor lock, factory fuel return linen does a good job of preventing that,
Have you actually run a pattern? U will most likely have to go and adjust pinion depth to achieve an acceptable pattern, my procedure when I set them up at the shop
Get pinion preload close, using a torque meter,
Set back lash,
Run pattern,
Adjust pinion depth, to achieve proper tooth...
i doubt hes haveing vapor lock isues, plus it looks like the stock fuel return line is in place, i only see thoes problems when the fuel delevery system has been hacked with, speeking of hacked did you do the "de Smog"?
