The wire was my next through as well - that's why I did the continuity test.
Is there by any chance a fuse that controls that specific gauge?
Otherwise, I think I will try to find a replacement gauge (this seems so unlikely...)
Thanks all for continuing to solve with me.
I tried the grounding trick and the gauge did not move.
I also checked with the ignition off:
-resistance of yellow/black to ground: 53 Omhs. Did not fluctuate much with wire moving.
- resistance of spade to batt ground .8 ohms.
Looks like possibly...
Here are the stages of what has happened:
1. Gauge used work well.
2. Had a well known cruiser shop do the oil pan gasket
3. Some time later gauge starts reading much lower
4. Changed oil back to my preference.
5. Drive with gauge still reading low but better than after shop
6. Gauge goes to...
Thanks for sharing. I read the whole thread and reconnected the yellow/black wire with a new spade to the center of the sending unit.
There is no response by the gauge as were yesterday it just read low and then stopped working.
I tested oil pressure with a mechanical gauge and it reads...
Hi!
I am trying to understand how the oil pressure sender wiring works on my 87 FJ60.
I pulled off the rubber boot (which has a hole on the side).
Into the boot ran a yellow/black wire which is encased in a plastic ribbed conduit.
The pressure sender itself has the spade connected to the...
Solved with a question:
I checked all the fuses in the slcfj62 fuse panel and found one 30AMP that was blown. Swapped in a fresh one and I am back in business. I’ll keep monitoring it.
Question: the brights indicator, how bring is it during the daylight in direct sunlight. Obvious or not? Maybe...
This afternoon I did a bit of testing as I start digging into this.
I turned on the headlights :
confirming they are working
Confirmed both hi-beam on and hi-beam flash do not actuate via stalk.
There is no hi-beam indicator light while trying to energize them
pulled the rear big relay under...
Bumping this thread - I have the EXACT same issue.
I bought the H4 kit, kept the slcfj62 ultimate harness, installed the h4 headlights. Everything worked ok including brights.
A few days later the brights stopped working
no hi-beams
no indicator light
no click
Question is, did the above...
Hi 60 crew,
My 60 has aftermarket speakers and their associated grills. I would like to go back to a more factory look.
1) does anyone know any speakers that fit behind the factory grills
2) does anyone know a good source for the grills - are the available or NLA from Toyota?
Any other...
Hi 60 Crew,
I just bought Toyota’s h4 headlight kit and harness but also have slcfj60 ultimate harness installed which used to power my sealed beam headlights.
What’s the best route in folks opinions:
Skip the Toyota harness and use only the slcfj62 harness
Somehow piggy back them to each...
cruiserheads,
One of my 7” sealed beam headlights finally gave up after 13+ years of service. I need to make a good choice on lighting.
I installed @slcfj62 ultimate harness a few years ago.
I don’t ever drive in snow and don’t love the ultramodern look of the bug eye projector headlights...
I don't have a dog in this fight but you are bending over backwards to keep it original and claim that's the main reason for the high price yet you split the original top from the rig? 🤔
Hey y'all, I have the 'supreme' harness that @slcfj62 made. I want to wire up old-school arb running lights. Is there a pre-wire for it? Or what's the best way to do this?
