Yep made it no probs at all. Apart from the fact that the 2F is an under powered POS engine and uses more fuel than I would have thought possible it did the 1000km trip with ease. Truck itself is in great nick and the seller was very honest and up front. It passed CA smog the day I got here...
why not ? You have to respect the skill it would have taken to make it look as nice as it did, hats off I reckon.
As for the knockers, how many of you drive unmodified rigs ? Any mod is a mod just that these guys go further than most.
U guys still know about Croc Dundee, that is cool :)
Hopefully all will go fine, I will pack some duct tape, cable ties and a pocket knife. That is of course unless the TSA steal them from me as a national hazard.
Thanks guys I pick it up in a few hours so should be cool, just have to make the 1000km trip in an unseen 40 year old car I bought off the web, off some guy I have never met after making full payment to the guy in a country I don't live in where they drive on a different side of the road and...
Hi Guys,
Ok so I am about to move to the San Diego Area currently looking around Ramona etc.
Anyway we will be either getting a place with a pool or putting one in once we have bought. Now not having any idea on costing’s in the USA Market I was hopeful that someone may be able to point me...
Nope it is an FJ73 with a 3F and H55 in it.
I still have the BJ74 with the 13BT and the A440 in it cause I need to drive something to work.
The BJ42 also had a 13BT in it with a H55F which is the 13BT which Twisty is selling cause he knows the power, reliability and economy of it would not...
Hi Dek,
Thanks for the feedback I will check out the site.
Move should be good, looking forward to getting a bit less junk and doing a lot less work :)
ok so if I bring a 13BT and A440 Auto from a BJ74 in Australia (JDM Model) with me and then buy a local 1978 USA 40 Series does that mean I can or can not do the transplant and get CA Rego ?
Economy wise I get 13L / 100km almost all the time. It happily keeps up with traffic and even on 35"s with 4.11's pulls a 2 Tonne Car trailer without issue.
I agree it ain't the quickest car in the world but the 40 series is lighter than the 74 as well so that will help.
I have a few...
Hi Guys,
New around here but hopefully you can help me out. I am in the process of moving into the Ramona / Valley Centre area and will be staying with some friends there for the next few weeks to do some house hunting and have a good look around.
Anyway like all guys moving to the USA from...
He will be shipping into prob LA at this stage. Happy to on ship via truck. Looking at the prices of LC parts in the USA might leave my pers stuff at home and just fill my container with 40 series stuff.
Hi there, so here is my question, I have had 40 series cruisers since as long as I can really remember and loved them. BUT I have never actually owned or from memory driven one with a 2F and 4 speed ( Non H41).
Now being that I am about to move to the USA it looks like I am going to end up...
Hi Guys,
Ok so I am in Australia about to move to the USA and working out what stuff to bring and what to leave. I have several ICOM 440 UHF Radios and was just wondering if they were fine to use in the USA Frequency wise etc ?
Up to 35 Receive only channels are programmable (450-520Mhz)...
what if it is later than 1975 ? Say 1980 ?
I thought I read somewhere that diesels where exempt from smog up until 1996, is this true for conversions ?
