Make sure it's not dripping from the oil pan gasket. I thought the crank seal or the timing cover gasket went bad. Upon further inspection the oil is coming from the oil pan gasket.
Time-Sert
Thank you SpikeStrip. You are absolutely correct. After I determined there was something different about the stud I did some research on the inter web. I searched thread repair and came up with Time-Sert. I called a shop I used in the past and he said he uses Time-Serts. He told me to...
Does this stud look like it has some kind of thread sleeve on it to you? I don't recognize it as being a hela coil. I ordered part number 92112-60818 EGR stud, from Toyota but after taking a closer look at the stud I removed it looks as though it may be a replacement remedy from the past.
so in your opinion is it a good fit for the engine, should I proceed with the rebuild? By the way great you tube video I really appreciate your effort.
Is this the correct carburetor for my 1974 FJ40 F.5 motor? Any other information about this carb? I am thinking of rebuilding it by following PinHead's youtube video. Before I put in the time and effort I want to be sure it is the right carb for the motor. The carb that is on the 40 works ok but...
Gary did you get a look at the schematic for the FJ40 it only shows two relays. I will measure and route as I did for the harness I put in my FJ60 if I don't get any input from this thread. am curious about the relay differences. Hopefully someone will offer clarification or dare I say shed...
it would be really cool if he started making them again. Can you post the measurements and colors of the wires? I guess the colors don't really matter but for reference. It would be really awesome if you could match the wire lengths with the schematic. Are you using the second harness? :)
I am trying to get more information on building a "slcfj62" harness for my 1974 FJ40. I ordered the connectors and relays from autolumination.com I would like to get in touch with "slcfj62'" to get the lengths of the wire. I also don't get the two and three relay difference in the pictures and...
I drove it for a year or two then went to Disc brakes and never looked back
It sounds more and more like the drum to disk conversion is like the manual to power steering conversion. Once you get it done it just makes sense. Saginaw power steering will be my next upgrade.
This Will Really Help
Help is always out there if you need it. I will be following this thread for the conversion: https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/137225-minitruck-front-axle-disc-brake-conversion-dummies-faq.html
In case you needed to see it.
After All I Am Going Disk Conversion
I have come to the realization that my dream of having a FJ40 with 60 axles and brakes all around is not going to happen. The headman has shunned me. So I am going ahead with the 60 to 40 front disk conversion. I have bolstered my drum brakes with some...
