Well it has been a while since posting on here but have not had much to do due to the old girl running sweetly the last few months. The problem is the family has expanded to 5 in that same time so the cruiser has been replaced by a 150 Prado. So it is up for sale at the moment, i would love to...

Is that bonnet liner from Tru-fit? i received very similar box for mine this week with a liner from tru-fit, how did it go cutting the hole for the intercooler? i am still deciding on top vs front mount for mine but i was put off cutting a hole in that nice bonnet liner...

a few minor things done on the car recently, but the little things all help keep it working well. replaced the leaking locking type fuel cap with a genuine non-locking type, hopefully this will stop the rear quarter being covered in diesel all the time. Installed a hood liner from Tru-fit...

Also yesterday a set of shocks from Bilstein arrived so i spent this morning installing those. I have only done a little bit of driving so far but i am very impressed, it has not taken away from the fact that the car is a SWB leaf sprung vehicle so it wont ride like a merc but the shocks...

yesterday i got new road tyres (as i have muddies for offroad), I decided to check the date on the BF Goodrich all terrains that are on there and they were manufactured in 2001! 17 years old is a bit much for me! plus the spare i had was from 1991! I also wanted to go up to 33 inch tyres for...

if you have poly type bushes and grease them regularly it might be worth it. I greased them once when i bought the car 4 years ago so lack of grease might have made them fail?? i have cleaned everything and kept it dry for the rubber bushes and i don't intend on greasing them. i have done a...

Cheers mate! The stuff on the doors is PVC sheet from bunnings, it is pretty soft and easy to work on but it will scratch easy with something sharp. but for normal wear and tear mine have help up well. https://www.bunnings.com.au/1200-x-900-x-3mm-black-pvc-foam-board-sheet_p1010816

    is my turbo just noisy?

Just to close out this thread I installed the second turbo and it sounds exactly the same... It must just be a combination of my setup somehow, but I am a little more confident there is no issues. Cheers

also in the same session I changed out the 'noisy' turbo for an identical replacement I bought not long ago. well turns out the second turbo sounds exactly the same. :meh: well it was worth the experiment at least and I have a known working turbo as a spare in the shed now. Installed a turbo...

bushes done in the front end only so far, looking better and a slightly softer ride which Is noticeable. it was a tougher job than I thought as I left the springs connected to the diff so wrangling the whole lot by myself was tricky, I might remove the springs from the diff for the rear so I...

the only problem with getting the car on the hoist is you see other problems! here is the condition of some of the leaf spring bushes... they appear to be polyurethane ones that have given up so will replace with a full rubber kit as i will prefer reduced NVH. normally on any car i...

well bearing has been changed, thankfully a hoist and gearbox jack make the whole job a lot easier. here are some pics just for fun. the setup trans down far enough to get bearing out. pressing old bearing out old vs new and no more squealing gear changes! i will try and keep...

well time for some regular maintenance to happen. the clutch throw out bearing has been making more and more noise so it is time to replace it. picked up the replacement today and it seems it might be a NOS koyo unit as the packet looks pretty old?? not sure but better than ebay cheapie version...

It has been working well so far, the only issues I am dealing with at the moment are that the boost sensor has too much fluctuation and is in need of a 'snubber' before the gauge, and maybe the screen is slightly too small as it takes a bit of focus to watch say the EGT figure on a hill climb...
