there is an activation lever/handle on the PS side of the rear seat to release the hold down. Arnold has a Dec 77 build date while Chester has a May 78 build date. Both were originally Cali emissions (Arnold still is - thermo reactor and all while Chester is desmogged)
Both pigs have that clamp style rear seat hold down. The metal hoop is the same. Chester didn't have one when I bought him - the old holes were bondo'd over. After a long time looking I found a replacement on sleebay from OZ. Drilled out the bondo, chased the holes and it's back to looking...
I'm not aware of a VM that will fit the OEM dash but AutoMeter has a relatively small (think 2.1/8" dia.) VM both analog and digital that you can mount off the side of the steering wheel column cover.
it's possible that you still have air trapped in the coolant system. Have you "burped" the radiator? Have the front end elevated and the radiator cap off (don't do this with the radiator hot) and see if any trapped air escapes. What temp thermostat did you use? 180 deg F is the standard.
The amp meter in my 40 (80 production date) has two fuses built into the harness and are shown on the OEM wiring schematic. They're wrapped with Toyota yellow electrical tape near the charcoal canister under the hood where the harness pokes through the firewall.
There's a thread somewhere...
not sure about a 73 specifically but the only know that I know of that has illumination is the headlight - and then the light is only on after you pull the knob and the headlights are on.
Check to see that the "outer vent control" a valve on top of the charcoal canister is working. pull the plug and check with a meter. Otherwise it might be that your charcoal canister is no bueno.
Brought “Chester” out of storage. Tires needed a little air then the mighty 2F roared to life and we were off. Sure is nice to have a pig in the garage again. A bath is in order tomorrow.
