Update: I ended up ordering a new Toyota pump/motor assembly from Foothills Toyota (20% off list price). I put it in and when I started the car the pump just cycled on and off for about 2-3 seconds at a time and the buzzing/dash lights remained. That happened right as my wife told me our...
How did you successfully remove the motor from the part of the case that holds the brushes? I can't seem to figure out how it "releases" in order to fully separate.
Thanks!
First off, thanks to everyone for all the information on this thread. I managed to get the complete assembly out and (aside from being really durty and corroded) it looks like half the brass colored contact pads on the commutator have completely fallen off.
Question: How are some of you...
No. It is Lexus/Toyota part # 45280-60510 I just double-checked the receipt from when I had it replaced at Lexus of Lindon.
It's the physical metal connecting rod that turns when you turn the key. I was told by the dealer (and lots of posts of similar issue) that the original version was made...
I know my 99 LX has a transmission cooler. Not sure if that was stock or upgraded by the original owner. Does yours have one too?
This makes me reconsider getting a larger trailer... I
Carry the updated Ignition cylinder rod/bracket # 45280-60510. This is a known problem in the older LX470/LC100. Not sure what year it changed, but the new design addresses it.
I've driven all over the Western US and one summer had the ignition rod break in the middle of nowhere in Southern UT...
Just to verify even further how much confusion there is surrounding AHC...
Called local Toyota dealer (large dealer) to see if I could buy AHC. They don’t sell it and said they don’t flush it either. I asked what about the LC’s that have it. They said they are so rarely in there that they...
That would have been a nice option on my 99. In order to use a brake controller, I had to add a breaker fuse and run power from the battery to the back of the car in order to use a 7 pin connection.
You’re right, crazy how many people are selling brand new Tundra TRD rims and tires. I wish I would have bought about this before I bought my last set of tires. Good to know for future though. Rig looks tight!
I would definitely run the VIN through CARFAX. It will tell you the last time it was registered and in what city, state. You might be able to get an idea of if it has been unregistered and sitting for a while, registered yearly but maybe not used as a DD, etc...
The only really sketchy thing I...
Thanks. I was just expecting the number to stay somewhat steady, but it was jumping all around the place. Good to hear that’s normal as I thought I might need to add O2 sensors to the list.
So I did some driving with the OBD Fusion app open and the reader connected to see what mpg I was getting. In addition to mpg’s, there is a reading for O2 sensor 1 and O2 sensor2. O2 sensor 2 stayed stable, but the reading for sensor 1 was jumping all over the place. Here’s a pic of the display...
Over the years my LX has taken more wear and tear from the salt on the roads in the mountains that the actual snow itself. I can see how water submersion could cause a problem, it I’ve never thought twice about snow doing any damage. In fact, I usually try to find the deepest stuff I can to...
I am using something similar to this ($15) https://www.amazon.com/Transmitter-OBSTARO-Bluetooth-Wireless-Smartphones/dp/B075QLG63Y
It’s not that good for calls, but works decent for music which is what I wanted. I’ll probably replace the head unit, but this thing does the trick for now.
Nice work Macgyver! I’m impressed you were able to get it to run. I had the same thing happen to me a while back and I was literally in the middle of nowhere (Salina, UT). Total hassle and a long tow.
According to the Lexus service guy, the replacement ignition shaft is made a lot better than...
That’s interesting about the insulation. Mine doesn’t rattle, but if anything is sitting in the leather pouch at the base of the shifter(ie cell charger) it does start to rattle.
