Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. I now think I will forgo the press in favor of the drill and saw. If I can't get them out that way, I will try Boltripper's method.
I am wondering...are you all mainly referring to the LCA bushings? Are they more difficult than the rest?
Thanks, guys. I am going to replace all of the bushings...there are about 20 of them, so I do believe I need to procure a press. Wish I had a neighbor who owned one.
I have been warned about the noise when they pop out. I will be sure to wear undies that day!
The 15 ton wasn't enough? That makes me think I want no part of trying to remove these things without a press. I don't really want to buy one. Wonder if I can rent one?
Thanks, Pin Head. I appreciate the info. I am going to pick up a set of bushings and will plan to change them out two weeks from tomorrow when there is no Saturday NFL football.
Happy New Year to everyone!
I want to replace the suspension bushings on my '91 80 Series. They are looking pretty crusty.
I am wondering how difficult of a job this is. It looks fairly simple, which gives me an uneasy feeling. I have gotten into way too many projects that looked easy enough...
Try Schneider Automotive in Simi Valley. I took my 1HZ there a couple of years ago because there was an Aussie mechanic there who was familiar with Toyota diesels.
They were expensive, but the work and service were quality. I have not needed to go back since, so I don't know if that guy (Ben, I...
I had the good fortune of meeting Sean on Saturday. He installed one of his bumpers on the back of my '91.
After speaking with him for just a few minutes, it was obvious that Sean takes a lot of pride in his work and has very high standards. His bumpers reflect this. The thing is sooo nice...
Major Nelson: I had not checked this thread in a couple of days. I replied to your email this morning. The truck is still available.
89fj: Thanks for the kind words! Hope to see you around sometime too.
Fair enough. Thanks, 78crzr.
Care to throw a number out there?
As stated, a replacement fender comes with the truck, so that takes care of the significant dent. The paint is the worst thing about this truck, so if that's a concern, you'd want to respray it anyhow.
At under $200K, the...
Thank you for the reply, Zach.
I considered that the price could be the issue. Who doesn’t list a vehicle for a bit more than they actually want for it? But is it so outrageously high that nobody will bother to reply unless I ask? The answer is no. I have been a Cruiser enthusiast and owner...
So there is not even enough interest in this FJ60 to generate even one comment or reply? Would anybody be kind enough to tell me why that is?
I have to believe that a 48 hour old thread, with pictures and 140 views but no replies is some sort of a record on this site.
Thanks.
I appreciate that very much. Etiquette isn't a strong suit for me, and when it comes to internet forum etiquette, forget it. Hopefully I didn't offend anybody.

What about Aussie mirrors? They are a bit pricey but...They are big, manual, made of metal, and the glass is not flat so you can really see out of them.
My name is Brian and I am hoping to find someone who is willing and able to help me with a couple of upgrades on my '92 80 Series.
I live in the SF Valley, have limited tools and workspace (I have a house but no driveway), and very little experience or confidence when it comes to working on...
I guess so? I am open to the possibility that I just got lucky, but I don't think that is the case. Before going into the AAA office, I imagined that this was going to be such a rare thing that the people there would not know what the heck to do. When I left though, I definitely got the feeling...
