do you use to get the dust out of the driver's side A/C vent? My wife does not like it when the dust blows on her at start up. Also, where do you store the paper booties so your carpets don't get dirt on them? Thanks
I just bought a 2001 Tundra with the V8. There seems to be an exhaust leak noise, mostly detectable on acceleration. Is this an issue with Tundras? Any other issues I should explore? Its just a 2WD model for DD. Thanks
I have no tools, no shop and no one to help me. This site is great but without some basic knowledge and tools, I guess bending over is all I can do. Thanks for the help Doug.
Some of you may remember that I thought I had a front brake problem because the right front wheel seemed to "lock up" at very very low speeds, like in the car pool line. I took the truck to a 4X4 shop here in Macon, GA. They said the front axle needed rebuilding. I took them the internet step...
Assume I can't do the birf repack myself, for many reasons. Would you recommend that I get the dealer to do it or should I print the instructions and get a good local mechanic to do it? I do not trust my dealer -- last visit they sugested I replace a lot of stuff that they had just replaced...
Is this engine enough? I have the opportunity to buy one at the right price. Is the V8 worth the extra $? I will mostly use it as a daily driver with pretty simple off road use. Thanks.
The tail light bulb keeps burning out in my 99 4Runner. I have replaced the bulb 2 times in 2 months. Can it be anything other than bad bulbs? Wife got pulled over by the police last night and is pissed at me. Gonna be a long weekend if I can't get some help!
I made a mistake in my original post. The problem was not a warped rotor but a "broken" caliper. The entire caliper was replaced. Problem not resolved. The truck is at a brake shop getting the brakes serviced, i.e. replacing the brake fluid. Mechanic says that will not fix my described...
You all might remember that a few months ago I asked about a brake problem I had where the front right brake would sometimes bind or lock up. Happened usually when I was in carpool line at my child's school. I took the truck to the dealer who said my rotor was warped. He replaced it for about...
Saw this term on a listserve about 80 series cruisers. What is this valve? Where is it? The right front brake on my truck sometimes locks up when I have been on it too long, like in line at car pool with the kids. Dealer recently replaced the entire caliper and said it was "broken." Still...
The indy mechanic could not duplicate the problem. He took everything apart and did say that the caliper assembly was new. Interestingly, since I have gotten the truck back, I have not had the problem, yet. The more I think about it, it feels like the caliper was sticking. Any ideas or...
First, I am an idiot -- can't work on a truck to save my life. Second, I am an idiot -- I actually trust mechanics when they tell what is wrong. Now, having said that -- please please help me. About 3 months ago, there was an awful clunk when I braked sometimes. It seemed to come from the...
Can anybody be more specific?
I am an idiot. Can anyone tell me what to do and what to look for? If I come back with the "number of flashes" can somebody interpret that?
My light came on recently on my 92 FJ80. Autozone here says they can only get codes from American cars. I ask y'all because my old 1995 M3 would let me do a trick with the gas pedal to get the code. I did search but came up with nothing helpful. thanks
I can't do the front axle service myself -- no help and not smart enough. How much should the dealer charge me? I have my choice of dealers or I can drive about 1 1/2 hours to an independent mechanic that has some LC experience. So what is a fair price? I am doing the service so i can sell...
I had a similar problem but it involved the front. Turns out the right front brake caliper would stick until it was forced to unbind. Had to replce the caliper -- $450 or so. Does your truck only do this when its cold (mine did) or all the time? Good luck
About how long would this take a novice (with half drunk supervision)?? I really need to do this but my cruiser is my daily driver so i can't let it take more than the weekend. Thanks
