Hi all,
Apologies if there is already a thread on this..considering picking up a 2023 GX460 and wondering if the new grill can be swapped with the 2019 and older style without too much modification. Anyone done this?
@TNOverlander @jonheld
I am embarrassed to admit this..but the + terminal (a cheapo until the OEM gets here) wasn't making strong contact with the post.
OY VEY!
@jonheld Swapped in a known good battery with the same results. I'm leaning toward this being due to a bad ground somewhere based on the battery needing to be reset after each attempt at starting. My electrical knowledge is limited so forgive the assumption, but wouldn't I be encountering a...
Thought I'd follow up here - I replaced the fusible link (old one looked fine) and positive terminal connector (badly corroded) with no change in my post plug/wire change no-start situation. Turn the key, everything comes on as it should in the first two positions, but when turned to start, I...
So, the fuel pump appears to be fine. Took the valve cover off and ran the motor - nothing unusual. Pushrods looked fine, clearances were within spec, and the rocker arm was oiling everything as it should.
Drained the oil and dropped the pan - again, nothing was evident.
Zero debris in the...
Update -
I apologize for my hasty conclusion that the dipstick "DEFINITELY" smelled of gas. comparing the smell and appearance of the 40's oil with that from my 80, I'm less certain about the presence of fuel. There is a slight difference in odor, but I think what I was initially sure was fuel...
Appreciate all the input - I'll start investigating asap.
Mark, can you - or anyone - explain how a failing pump could cause a knocking sound itself? Would it just be worn internals vibrating with the rotation of the motor? Doubt thats the source, unfortunately, but I'd like to understand the...
Pretty sure I've been hearing some variation of this sound since I got the truck in April, but recently it's either gotten louder or I've been paying way too close attention to it, or both.
Two oil changes with 15-40 in 2000 miles, good pressure, and no weirdness in the pan.
The sound...
That is very possible and concerning. Guess I’ll find out after I remove and open the one that’s on the 40 now..I’ll report back.
For reference, what is the function of that bolt?
