We ended up purchasing a 2007 with 165,000 miles in Solar Yellow. You can pretty much spot it from space.
It may make me a Nissan fan - the 4.0L V6 has real pull.
I'll see if I can get Toyota longevity out of it with good maintenance. I already have a Denso Radiator to swap out because it...
With strange electrical issues I find Its always good to start by testing the battery, it's cables and connections and the alternator. When the voltages drop or fluctuate all kinds of strange problems can pop up.
To me the SMOD is not a concern if you are shopping. The truck will have a working trans with clear fluid or it'll be a parts unit.
Once you own it it is easy to get a updated radiator without the problem or run a separate trans oil cooler.
Looking for a Xterra myself right now. They are...
Long handled diagonal cutters make easy work of the old clamp. Stick a screw driver into the crimp and twist loose. Then cut.
Clamp over clamp doesn't sound preferable to me.
I have experienced complete loss of climate control operation in extreme cold with a very low charged battery after my truck was sitting for some time battery and drained to the point of needing a jump. After about 15-20 minutes of running it started running.
Have you tested the battery and...
I have had the windshield on my 100 replaced half a dozen times (Colorado) and have never needed to replace any of the moldings. Maybe let the indy guy use what's there but put it together the right way. OTOH windshields are disposable/consumable here so I am not too worried about getting it...
1. Weathertech Mats
2. Nulaxy Bluetooth FM Transmitter, Wireless Radio Adapter ($22)- Still on OEM head unit.
3. Yota MD key case.
4. Set of Wheels and Snow Tires so I can do my own snow change out.
4. Ritchie Navigation X-10W-M Compass installed on Dash.
I really need the 3D printed cup holders!
This is the way I would go and exactly how I have done my Land Cruiser and Camry with great results. (Only took about 10 quarts of fluid in LC)
What fluid are you going to use?
Same as Jon above Looking for pros and cons of the Frontier. I own a 100 but looking at a 2000 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab for my son.
The forum here looks pretty slow. I'm a little surprised at that because these Nissan Trucks seem very popular and the Xterra definitely has fans around here...
It's a Toyota Land Cruiser - Gas and go!
If you hit oil change mileage enroute pull into a shop and get the oil changed.
The problem with preventative maintenance is there is always a chance of the repair causing a new problem (Bad part or bad installation). To avoid that inspection is your...
My cruiser gets a very consistent 13 mpg.
Good Cruiser mileage is not a thing. Not really a Toyota thing. Reliability is Toyota's focus.
Fantastic fuel economy is like any other high performance goal. Diminishing returns and compromises to reliability.
If you can get the top gear in the...
I thought I was having a bad day when I broke two of the bolts with one stuck in the bracket! I now see I should be counting my blessings to have a bracket at all.
I was able to remove the broken bolt with a torch on the welded nut and turning the bolt 1/6th of a turn at a time with a part of...
This SK snap ring plier tool is well worth it ! -
Also wish I had purchased Slee's spindle lubrication tool before I started.

If you want a bolt to pull on the axle spindle a good one is at the front top of the radiator.
Vin search in Google will often get you pictures of the damage pre-salvage auction so you can judge how much was done and what to look for.
For a vehicle with 200k miles even a minor event could result in salvage title.
A problem I found is that all the salvage "rebuilders" in my area were...
I vote for take the money and run.
If you love the cruiser watch for it in the regional auction and pick it back up if it's going for very cheap. No matter how well it is rebuilt it will never have the same value with a branded title. There may be value there for a "flipper" but the profit...
