V-8 Swap - Look at This and Tell Me What You Think.

He means if you go to remove the engine at some point you need to be able to slide it around on the mount bracket...NOT as you drive the vehicle.

Diff between Early and Late model rollbars??

Heres a pic of mine in its new home! :hhmm: Works great...its like a good version of the proper tubing and is just the right diameter! Its coming out of the exhaust manifold and running under the oil pan!!! :grinpimp:

    Bypass Rear Heater

CruisinGA is correct. Think of how the heater lines split into "Y"s just inside the firewall. Y Y If you just loop two of the rear heater branches with an open hose the coolant will follow the path of least resistance and a large percentage will bypass the front heater. Due to the...

    stock roll bar wall thickness

I found the stock roll bar to be very useful...and money saving! I used the sweeping mandrel bends to make my custom crossover for the Chevy V8!!! Seriously! The tubing fit perfectly to the ends of the original Chev pipes that were there already...just cut everything to fit square and...

Testing Power Seat at junk yard

Never been up close with an Explorer before but be very careful checking power leads on ANY newer seat! They could be equipped with side airbags and/or explosive seat belt tensioners...either of which could kill or maim you for life. Be VERY sure of what your doing...

    Chevy 400 sb conversion questions

Stock internals only need the factory issue 400 flywheel and harmonic balancer. Regular maintainance (flushing) is the key to keeping the steam holes clear. 175 hp? I'm thinking thats just numbers on a page and doesn't really say much for the difference you feel in the seat of your pants...

Need advice on exhaust for FJ40 w/ 350

You need a solid mount for the exhaust to the engine/trans/transfercase (whichever is more convenient) so that the movement and vibration in the engine isn't absorbed by the flange connections only. This solid mounting point will force the exhaust to move with the engine and not just have the...

    tailgate

Made my own from 1x2 heavy tube and 16g sheet, with TJ hinges, a YJ latch and exterior handle. Works great! No pics though...scanner is down for the count.:frown: ORIGINALLY planned on hanging the spare off it...then I bought 35x15.50 SX's! Just don't have the guts now!!! LoL

    Chevy disc conversion---late FRONT axle?

Up here in the great white, I've paid almost $80.00 each for a reman caliper...including what I got back in core charge! Had to order it in too! Chevy caliper is under $20.00 and always in stock. Rotors are also more expensive...(have to check the exact price...like $80.00 each.) Gotta...

    Chevy disc conversion---late FRONT axle?

I have a spare late front axle with the good steering arms etc...gonna do a cut and turn on it after this summer. Rotors and calipers are toast on that axle and the ones on my rig now are a little iffy for retrofitting during an axle swap. They've been around for a long time... I'm wondering...

    Hand Crank Starting

You KNOW I was kidding...right!?!? Man...can you imagine the looks you'd get if you tried that? Hahahaha I've heard you can start up a standard rig by jacking up a wheel and spinning it though! I dunno....sounds hokey to me...but when your desperate you'll give anything a try. LOVE to...

    Best Sag Ratio

I've driven a 3 turn box hooked to the stock steering wheel and found it quicker but not scary. I wonder are the people who find it TOO fast using a smaller diameter steering wheel? A smaller wheel would cause...hmmmm...kinda hard to explain...quicker response maybe? The circumference of...

    Hand Crank Starting

"I've had better luck getting it to start on the upstroke of the crankhandle than with the downward." YIKES! You never hand crank by pushing down! A kickback will break your arm! Pull up with your fingers only and with your thumb outside like someone said previously. The handle SHOULD...

    why not a fiberglass gutter?

Sounds like a load of work to duplicate it in glass... I had a local sheet metal shop bend up two lengths from 16 gauge galvanized steel. My front section over the windshield was good so I reused that section but everything else was replaced. Some welding and fitting naturally but the only...

    What Should I Do????

To use a 205 you will need to use the factory T350/np205 adapter and the drive sleeve. Make sure the 205 has a yoke on the back and not just a splined slip shaft. 9" is a poor 'cheap choice' due to the low pinion, 5 lugs instead of 6 for wheel mounting and many were only 28 spline axles...
