    And so it begins !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    >>6 inches of lift is the answer to that.<< Yep, a lift will take care of it. 6", even off-road, is definitely adequate.

Wayne, I've got a couple of the narrower-Atlas 4L60s here-- I'll PM you on the details, but if you want to swap gearboxes we can figure out how to get the right flexplate, bell-housing etc if you want to give it a try.

    Leveling my engine conversion FJ80

Wasn't aware that Ecoboost was a diesel. To our knowledge the EcoBoost Ford is using in the F-150 is a 3.5L running direct-injection gas engine. It's numbers are nice, but I would think there are a lot of easier ways to get to those power levels with Toyota or other I-6 engines. Can you...

    3FE - No CEL and no +12V @ B+

3FE Fusible Link I've had this happen a couple of times on the 3FE trucks-- both times has been the high-current fusible link up by the battery.

Wayne, Wow! Congratulations, that thing sounds awesome-- that one blip of the throttle makes it all worthwhile!

    And so it begins !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wayne, I've got a couple of sets of Service Manuals right here, so let me scan a few of the relevant pages and I'll PM you so we can compare notes. The FSMs should be the definitive source, but I'd bet a Brisket-at-Dickeys that there's an incompatibility between years/versions/vehicle-series...

    And so it begins !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmm, well there's some hints in there anyway... Which version of the harness are you running? Is it the stock factory harness with the BLUE/GREEN color-coded PCM connectors on it? Which PCM? If it's all from the same year you should be fine-- so that might point to a fault in the ETC...

    Seat Swap

Lexus seats into FJ80 We swapped a set of leather LX seats into an FJ80 and did find some differences in buckle-mating and belt positions. It was 'do-able' but we had to ALSO grab some of the seat belt-and-tensioner assemblies out of the Wrexus (wrecked Lexus). it was weird, IIRC, since...

    who sells upgraded brakes

In fairness, the brakes got progressively better from 91 to 97, but they were never great. I used to joke that, before all the upgrades, when I commuted across town in my White '91 that I spent a crazy amount of time with my foot glued to the floor... Either with my foot hammering the throttle...

    who sells upgraded brakes

Glad you are doing this! With that Big Boy under the hood, you'll need bigger binders. We've been doing slotted/drilled rotors, better compound and stainless steel lines on these Atlas trucks. Makes a big, big difference in stopping power.

    And so it begins !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wayne, I'm looking for a wiring diagram for you, but the LSx crowd generally re-wire this one pretty easily... It's odd that they built multiple (non compatible) versions but it's only two pins if this is what's causing you grief. Which PCM model are you using? Sounds like it's pre E-38?

    And so it begins !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Double-Check pinouts-- Error indicates PCM confusion on inputs Wayne, For some reason, GM used the same connector but different pin-outs on the TPS/ETC wiring depending on application-- car versus truck-- some years. The LSx and Swap forums are pretty good for information. The excerpt...

New Build: GM 4.2L Atlas into '91 FJ80

Hi! Yep, that's a pretty good start on the list. Other 'small' items include a chunk of the BCM harness (although you don't need the BCM itself), sensors pulled from your old motor for gauge compatibility, 4L60 shift cable... Also, the GM PCM will need a light 'tune'-- mainly turning OFF VATS...

New Build: GM 4.2L Atlas into '91 FJ80

We haven't done a split-case yet but are thinking the combination you describe would be good for mileage in combination with the lock-out hub conversion. are you thinking of a split case from an FJ6x?

    Seat discussion

Saab seats I've never liked the cloth seats in my previous '80s, so we did put in Saab Turbo (circa 2003 MY) leather seats, with power and heat, at the time of the GMengine conversion. I'm pretty happy with them-- drive the truck on 300 mile RT daytrips quite often and never have back issues...

    Oregon bound

Ethanol and gas mileage-- my personal crusade I'm not sure-- CA got really aggressive about pushing ethanol blends, so it's impossible to buy 100% gas down there. But, it looks like OR left it up to the retailers. The few dealers over here in Idaho that still sell it are mainly...

    Oregon bound

Ethanol Free Gas in Oregon We've been tracking the difference in fuel economy and the E10 (10% Ethanol) causes WAY more decrease in mileage than the 3% it should be. There are more stations in Oregon with 100% gasoline than you'd think-- unfortunately there's not too many of them in the...

New Build: GM 4.2L Atlas into '91 FJ80

Towing We think the broad powerband helps-- you are making the same torque at 5500 RPM that you are at 1500, so that the agility of the PCM to drop a gear or two, helps you in uphill towing situations. I'm not a big advocate for towing heavy loads with the FJ or FZJ anyway, though...
