What oil did you just change it to? Perhaps its too viscuos for the cold weather? Does the tick go away when warm or once oil reaches the top end
I suspect since you had the oil changed and now this issue ,the oil is perhaps too thick ?
Cheers
If you are looking to restore one this is it.

I think your welds look pretty good for a newbie. I'm no pro , mine always look like bubble gum and hold quite well. I am quite envious of all you turbo going buggers. Keep the pics coming, so many great ideas are formed here!
Above all keep it fun

Did you check that shifter seat before you took it to these guys? I have heard of people rebuilding because of that $15 part. Shops love to make money for nothing!
Micheal what are you using to filter the oil down to .5 micron? Is it a circ. system with pump or just gravity drain into a filter? Curious.
Also how does synthetic work or do you have to stay with the dino juice.
I just "aquired" a gallon of lps #3. Blew it in all the nooks and crannys with my engine cleaning wand hooked up to my air compressor. All the fly guys love this crap its my first time using it. Smells pretty and tastes sweet. Hopefully it works have you used it before BB?

You probably end up paying the same amount to get it milled or buy another gasket. I'd do it right and mill it. Mickeymouse doesn't live under my hood.

what do you mean by patched in a new ground. You sure the ground is making metal contact. Try undoing it and connecting somewhere else. Do you have a voltmeter?
I think you have a ground issue. Does the plug only go on one way or can it be reversed.
If you see my silver 60 pushing your chevy into the stamp this weekend do not be alarmed, I'm doing you a favor you'll thank me later. MMM steelies, alberta premium, and chevies for lunch. lol
Good luck ya gooey bugger
Instead of just bleeding you may want to flush the system And start with all new fluid. An often overlooked maintenance job. Also how old are your hoses. You could have a great case of capilliary action{when the inside of the hose collapses} going on there.
Sorry one more question.
Have you had any indication of the turbine surging or pulsing at idle with the gate pinched ?
Very interesting topic thanks for your experiment.

Since you have the wastgate "pinched off" I am assuming you were going for low to midrange horsepower for wheeling. Just curios but when approx. do you think the turbo is hitting max boost (at what rpm). I have always wondered what would happen if i did not allow a turbo to have the ability to...
The fish scale is crap. It just doesn't work. Tighten until the bearing is just dragging then back off. Check play/heat after a local drive and readjust as needed. Did you buy a bearing kit for the new rotors? Driving out the old ones and swapping may be a bit of a bitch I'get new ones.

If the vehicle was up north it may be a huge filter. When diesel hits extreme cold it seperates as you all know but the wax becomes a problem at low temps. This may have been a way to remove the wax in large fashion before the next filter/pump and injecters. After running awhile the return fuel...
Oil the s***e out of your ebrake cable or just don't use it in the winter especially in salty bc . I've had mine seize twice from freezing and salt seizing. Both heaters are good i to prefer the hose heater but cost is always an issue when the block heater is only $20 at toyota
